Cambodia New Year

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Re: Cambodia New Year

yes it was an extra long Khmer New Year this year we started on the 12, and there were still parties going off last night when we left
what ive noticed is that theres still the 3 main days of the new year but wether each village actually sticks to the three days is variable, i remember last year the final day got delayed by a day or 2 because the top monk not being able to make it until that day which dragged it out to 5 days instead of 3,
this year we didnt arrive to my friends village until about 9am on the 15th and was told that they had only just started the celebrations, and that the final day wouldnt be until the 18th or something, we actually went to check out a few other parties at neighbouring villages over the weekend as well
