Cambodia hotter than before

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Cambodia hotter than before

Post by explorer »

I meet many people. One of these is a man nearly 70.

He told me the climate has changed since he was young. It is now hotter at certain times of the year.

He told me when he was young, there were a lot of trees. Most of these have been cut down.

Most of us know, if you have trees around your house, it will be cooler.

From what he is saying, when there were trees across the entire country, the entire country was cooler.
## I thought I knew all the answers, but they changed all the questions. ##

Cutting down trees may make for less shade, but not higher national temperatures. Also, old people like to complain about everything.

Stop picking on old people. Remember we built this world so you younger people can have a good standed of living and now all you do is complain about us old people complaining.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Actually between 1940-ish and 1970-ish there was a global cool period, so he's not totally full of shit.

In the 80's, aside from the threat of nuclear armageddon, the hot topic of the day was the imminent ice-age we were told was going to take us back to a snow-ball Earth. Now, of course, we're being told the Earth will go back to being as hot as it was during the Roman Warming period.
Those bloody Romans! What have they ever done for us?

Europe used to have a lot more trees. Was it "better" then than it is now?

People all over the world are notoriously bad at remembering the weather in their young years.
