Cambodia gripped by Pokemon Go yet?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I've never even heard of it. I checked out that Ingress game and lost interest within a day.

Might give this a try...

The no-fun boss:

However, everything can not be treated as part of a game - cemeteries and now the Holocaust museum...
Certain other sensitive sites such a memorials and museums have also been caught in the crosshairs as the desire to capture Pikachu knows no bounds, leaving some miffed at the insensitivity of players in certain situations.

The Holocaust Museum in Washington DC is one of those places.

The museum is one of many real world landmarks that is designated as a Pokestop within the game where people can collect free in-game items.

As you might expect, museum administrators aren’t stoked about the huge influx of highly animated, smartphone wielding gamers.

“Playing the game is not appropriate in the museum, which is a memorial to the victims of Nazism,” Andrew Hollinger, the museum’s communications director told the Washington Post.

“We are trying to find out if we can get the museum excluded from the game.”

Don't forget to engage brain before falling off clifftop:
Pokemon Go: Two men fall more than 50ft off cliff while playing mobile game

The two men climbed over a fence to try and collect Pokemon, and are now in hospital in San Diego following the accident.

Here's how:
How to get Pokémon on Android and iPhone
iPhone

1. Log out of your current Apple ID on your iPhone. The fastest way is to open the App Store, click the Featured tab, scroll right to the bottom, tap your Apple ID and hit ‘Sign out’.

2. Go to Settings > General > Language & Region and change the region to the US, Australia or New Zealand.
3. Download any free app and you’ll be prompted to create a new Apple ID. Do so, and select ‘None’ in the billing menu. Add any US/Australia/NZ-based address.

4. Try searching for Pokémon GO again and it should now be there and ready to install. Time to start catching wild Rattatas in your local Sainsbury’s!

Android

How to get Pokémon GO on Android (slightly more tricky)

1. Download Pokémon Go from an APK download site such as APKPure.com, ideally directly on your phone but, failing that, on a PC (58.1MB file size).

2. If using a PC, attach your phone to the PC via USB and drag the downloaded file to your Downloads folder. On your phone go to Settings > Security and enable installation of apps from unknown sources. Now hit Pokémon Go in your Downloads folder to install the game.

Pokemon Go’s Local Launch Met With Fear
By Phan Soumy and Janelle Retka | អានជាភាសាខ្មែរ

A month after the game was released for Apple and Android products in select countries, Pokemon Go arrived in Cambodia on Saturday, finally giving users in the country a chance to “catch ‘em all” in the face of traffic, smartphone thieves, and other obstacles.

[A user said] “Sometimes, if you’re walking and catching Pokemon, someone might snatch your phone or you might get hit by a car,” he added. “I’m a bit worried.”
