Cambodia 2029

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Cambodia 2029

Post by xandreu »

Considering the unimaginable pace of change in Cambodia, especially Sihanoukville and to a lesser degree, Phnom Penh over the last 5 to 10 years, how do you see Cambodia in the next ten years?

I say a lesser degree in Phnom Penh, but there's no doubt the rate of development here is as fast, if not faster than Sihanoukville, with high rise apartments and new shopping malls springing up everywhere. I think the reason Sihanoukville get's more attention is because the Chinese and especially the development of casinos in particular seem a lot more prevalent there than the capital, but there's no doubt Phnom Penh is redeveloping at an astounding rate.

So how do you see Cambodia in 10 years? Somewhere you'd still want to live, or would the charm have been sucked out of it to such an extent you'd have packed up your bags long before that?
