Business Owners... Turn off the damn TV.

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Whereas I never get that impression from OD, either online or in person.
I'll set up a poll so everyone can share their impressions of OD.
Scarier than malaria.

Use of smart phones, or any phones for that matter while working is another anoyance. Do you want to walk into a hostess bar and see a bevy of inanimate girls glued to their phones? Some bars actually ban or severely restrict the use of phones while the girls are working.
Yeah, that would be phase 2. Have a locked box the phones go into when they arrive and come out of when they leave. No chatting on the phone, SMSing, playing on facebook, etc. You're there and paid to do 1 thing... work. Imagine if you could make them so bored the smile when a customer walks in for the break in the monotony! Customers that feel genuinely welcomed rather than a scripted artificial greeting!

And when there are no customers they might get so bored they actually start cleaning things.
And while were at it phase 3 - Music- I know quite a few bars where the girls think the music is for their pleasure not the customer. Personally I would prefer tamper proof playlists under the control of the owner. I realise that peoples taste in music varies but on the whole people are reasonably tolerant and stuff could be added or subtracted from a set of play lists. I am not that keen when girls play their take on music and are reluctant to change whats on. Generally this is what seems to piss customers off to the extent the customers leave the bar.

Also you can have the same problem with some customers. Your listening to some music and a customer comes in goes straight to the computer and without regard to anyone in the bar starts f***ing around with the playlist. Plays a few bars of a song then decides he dosn't like it and tries another. After a few times this gets tedious. Controlled playlists stop all this. As long as the music is continuous and not messed about in the same way the girls change TV channels. Not played at ear splitting volume and not RAP I am happy. I dont know how other people stand on this but I know some bars lose quite a few customers because of the particular style of RAP many of the girls seem to like.

I'm not saying I like this song, just the sentiment
