BugZone: Nothing's perfect...

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Not really a bug, but I like on the front page how it has newest posts.

But instead of just seeing 5 I wish I could see more like click through to see a list of 100 newest posts or whatever is a good number.

Or what would really be cool, is newest posts on threads you yourself have posted in... or if also I had a list in my profile panel that showed me threads I've started...

Look at the top of the page, just above the "CAMBODIA IN GENERAL" blue bar. There is a list of links:
View unanswered posts • View unread posts • View new posts • View active topics • View your posts

But View your posts isn't exclusive to topics you've started... I'll think through on that one and it's possibility as another addition to that list. • View your topics

Thank you Kemosabe, I see them now... it's easy to miss... even after you told me, took me some searching to see em.

This space could be better utilized IMHO. I'm a pretty one dimensional designer, but this is on my 21.5 inch screen and I'm not reading until half-way down the page.

I only mean this as constructive criticism.

I think you should,

1 - tighten up that area (I can give you some 5 minute examples if you want to look at them)
2 - no offence logo needs some work, have a logo design / header design contest (have a contest and everyone pool a few bucks in for a beer fund)

Hope you take this constructively.

Just noticed this over the past couple of days, in the Inbox of PMs, the posters avatar is overlapping the text area.

Like this:

Next question, why can I upload an avatar image directly from my laptop, but can't do the same with an image (such as above)?

Awesome screenshot plugin let's you do this... but you're right I find most forums you can't do this in.

Overlap: You're the second person to mention this to me, what browser are you using? I don't see it in chrome because of a fix I applied... which I thought would have fixed it for all.

Uploads:
because an avatar is a pretty simple small image (with lots of restrictions on size) that we're more than likely going to see repeatedly or have called to our attention if there's something seriously screwed up about it (porn/etc). we are, to some degree, liable for the images our posters upload... so if you upload something to our servers we have to be somewhat aware of that that is. i almost didn't even allow avatar uploads honestly. we are also responsible for the storage space and bandwidth of serving any uploaded image... so if someone uploads an image directly from their camera that's 3 megs, and it gets 2000 views... we're out 6 gigs of bandwidth. that's a lot for a single picture. yes, i could set limits/etc... but they end up being a pain to manage with people THEN asking why they can't upload bigger pictures/etc.

Sure. Thing is, that space is sort of needed for what's there. The upper right is definitely wasted space right now, and that's going to change once I get some more tweaks done to a project I'm working on... you'll see ;-) The rest is sort of required... especially if you look at it on a smaller screen (phone). it's room for the content of that area to not have to resize down really small. probably floating that news/sitemap/etc stuff over to the right side would be a nice tweak that wouldn't hurt much... maybe. remember our previous conversation about me messing with the HTML too much..?

Logo: We've had mixed reviews on it, and so far the only people who don't like it are designers. And generally I've found that designers are really good at pleasing designers, often to the point of overthink. It's had a lot of compliments from non designers... lol.

I get a weird scaling problem too, in Safari, Chrome and Firefox on my iMac, but no problems on my Macbook Air...
