Broom Broom

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Broom Broom

Post by Duncan »

Probably no-one here knows much about these highly efficient household tools, but when ever I have to sweep the floor for dust, I always prefer to use the standed Cambodian broom over the mass manufactured plastic type cause they do a much better job. That is, unless it's heavy dirt or involves water. I guess it just goes to show that the latest invention and designs sometime cannot beat the old style.

Very true.
Old style Cambodian broom has been used & perfected over many generations.

Also observe the Cambodian's technique: idle hand placed behind the back at coccyx height, palm facing outwards.
Really helps with sweeping efficiency.

I've had to use one (once).

Much more effective than those plastic pieces of shit.

I vacuum, but I also preferred them for general light dirtiness. The plastic bristles last longer though and tend to do better with heavier/wetter surfaces. For everything else, the old stuff is best (and it's also made of natural materials).

The plastic one is for bathrooms and wet surfaces only. It's like a scrubbing brush with a handle. It is not a broom, which is why it doesn't work as a broom. Hope that helps 8)
