British Man "Missing" on Koh Rong

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Most foreigners die here from misadventure.
Very few from adventure.

what are your thoughts on improvements here? Do we think there's a sinister undertone to these deaths or is it just people partying too hard and doing something very stupid? Because if that's the case then they'd just put more "actual police" on police beach just scrutinising what people are up to and just pushing for bribes from anyone caught with certain substances.

My guess is probably some of each, but with a far greater emphasis on the first of your two reasons.

Oh no. Not another person gone astray from Koh Rong?
Drink/drug/medications/party/sea do not seem to be a great combination on it.
I hope this chap is found safe and well

I had an insane thai gal post on facebook in 2016 that i was missing...she had 5,000+ friends...pics of me and a sob story that her old friend was alone and lost..
As opposed to the truth that she had gone batshit crazy and got on a train back to Bangkok and I got on the northbound train and continued on my vacation.
A friend of hers who had my email address sent me a heads up...
She was just pissed that I would not let her rejoin me.

I went to Koh Tao...had a great time..spent weeks on Koh Samui...I just did not climb up dangerous waterfalls..I wore a helmet..
I didn't hang glide or zip line.
The pregnant lady was riding on the back of a moto and her boyfriend skidded under a truck...
Even visiting Wats can be dangerous...I went with a young strong local lady and found myself scared going back down the narrow steps...
People drive impaired...swim impaired..do things on vacation they probably don't do at home...the result is disaster.
I rode down a dangerous stretch on Koh Samui many times and it was nerve wracking....I saw where an experienced German on a larger bike hit some garbage dropped from a truck and died in an awful crash...
I take tuks tuks usually now...and the US embassy says not to ride in them..
I hope the guy turns up safe and sound.

I am guessing he turned up. If not there would be more reporting of it and search parties, etc...

If so, the person(s) initiating the alert should also take responsibilty & advise that the person has turned up/been found
