British English Vs American English

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

But why would a non English speaker when conversing with a fellow countryman speak English to them!

But yes. Pretty good English accents.

In order to pretend that they are not a fellow countryman ? Didn't you ever want to ignore someone from your country who was being a dick or just boring ?

I heard that speaking with a Glaswegian accent will discourage conversation with most people. 8)
(Full disclosure: I have been known to speak fluent Glaswegian very late at night after enough beer, but usually it's a sort of esperanto.)

Righto then, we're all agreed that British English is superior to that other weird stuff from the war mongers then.

Excellent! Next thread then.

Good point.

However. I've deliberately not spoken because there's been British mongs around whilst abroad but that was in Tenerife.

I've a German mate in Cambodia who pretends he's Dutch (he speaks Dutch) to Germans.
