i had a 44 foot double ender built in java back in 1982, had an absolute blast sailing it.

toyed with the idea of a houseboat on the mekong, but decided i am too old

We were trying to track down a dead rat in the kitchen during the week. Poor cleaning girl found it, it was dead but wriggling once again. She gagged, I removed it and then gagged. Our business partner left the building in a hurry gagging. Thought we were good but a few days later the sweet sickly smell of dead rat was still lingering - a second little bastard had got itself caught in between two storage containers in the plastics basket under the sink. That one had me dry retching - nothing like it. Not even deceased humans smell that bad. It turns out two plastic containers with a slight gap between them are as good a trap as the sticky squares.

I wonder where he was "Skipper" in Alaska. While I worked on the Alaska Marine Highway System(ferries up to 400ft), I lived on my Fisher English motorsailor in Southesat Alaska. Good research on the local boats.
