I'm on Boat

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! I'm on Boat

Post by The Add Jay »

Hey guys. Me and a fellow expat are in the middle of buying and building a Boat. We are trying to find a place on or near the water. Doesn't have to be in P.P but close in distance. Anybody know of someone who is on the water where I can leave it?

I dont want it in P.P cause then it becomes a pain in the sack trailing the thing. Just get on and go is ideal.

How far is still close enough?

you can rent space there by the docks at the riverfront and leave it in the water. then when you want it they'll get it out of the "stack" and bring it over to the dock for you.

(i only found this thread because i was searching for tranny's with aids at GSM)

Yes but keeping my boat owned by a foriegner near riverside is asking for it to get robbed. Also cost of keeping it their. Much more of a reason I would perfer to keep it in Kendal or the outskirts of P.P I'll be hunting this weekend for someone with water property. Fingers Crossed!

Have you thought about Chroy Changvar?
I'll check this again today or tomorrow but near the ferry to the island which I couldn't name, there was 1 or 2 boats moored in a kinda floating shed thing.
Real Miami Rice type efforts that looked a fair old price. I've never seen the boats being used on the water and seem to just sit there.
I'm sure they would have 24 hr sleeping security to watch over.

What kind of boat are you buying / building?
And how much $$$ involved?

here is a great little site by an alaskan boatbuilder/ salmon skipper / lover of this region.

it is pure gold for the boaty fraternity

http://www.boatsandrice.com/

i am surprised more barang dont have boats- a decent longtail can be had for under 3k and we are talking 26 feet.
that bay in front of ream- hell you could live on a longtail in there quite comfy long as you had a winward beach camp on one of the islands. keep the sandflies off. couple of boys in dighies and you could get a mighty lot of crab.
keep the alive in pots for phnom penh.
be some big mudcrabs inshore there i bet. barra and mangrove jack too- yes, for those who did not know.

live off the fatta the land Lenny.
