Not to be cantankerous, but that piece was a one-off like all the other pieces that go on the side of a building. It doesn't make economic sense to hire minions.

You are mixing him up with Obey who was caught admitting to paying other people to put his stuff up for him. The difference is that Banksy does one offs and not repetitive stencils like Obey used to do. His prints were originally made by Ben Eine who was a London writer in the 90's and worked with Banksy originally to produce limited edition prints. Eine TPG is now a famous 'street artist' motivated mainly by the fact that he was caught painting trains numerous times that he was forced to go legal or go to jail. He actually has some commisioned pieves in Pattaya of all places at the bottom of Soi 6 Watch 'Kings and Toys' on YouTube for a bit more of a background. I am pretty sure Banksy's name is out in public now and it isn't the dude from Massive Attack, that's 3D.

Add; i talked to a really good spray painter from the mean streets one time - about this very thing.
He said he lets go of his pieces the second he finishes them.
If he was handed a million dollars for one of his works, he admitted he would probably take it - but live in shame for the rest of his life and never paint again. I think he meant it, sincerely and strongly, he was a real street artist.

Feud with Banksy

In 1985 15 year old King Robbo painted a graffiti work under the British Transport Police Headquarters on a wall beside Regent's Canal in Camden, London which was only accessible by water. A large full colour graffiti piece, called "Robbo Incorporated", it had over the years become the oldest piece of graffiti in London. Over time, virtually all of his works had been gradually removed from London's trains and walls by authorities, except for this piece. In 2009 however, the English stencil artist Banksy destroyed most of it with a stencil of a workman pasting wallpaper. King Robbo has stated that Banksy was introduced to him for the first time in the 1990s, commenting:
"I was at a place called the Dragon Bar on Old Street. I was introduced to a couple of guys who were like 'whoa it's nice to meet you!'. When I was introduced to Banksy, I went 'Oh yeah I've heard of you mate, how you doing?' and he went 'well I've never heard of you'...he dismissed me as a nobody, as nothing. So with that I slapped him and went 'oh what you ain't heard of me? you won't forget me now will you?' and with that he picked up his glasses and ran off.
On Christmas Day 2009 Robbo reclaimed his piece from Banksy's defacing by covering the work so the workman appeared to be painting "KING ROBBO" in silver letters. Three days later the letters "FUC" appeared before the word "KING". Tit-for-tat overpainting continued at the site with artwork and insults including a picture of Top Cat leaning on a gravestone with the words "R.I.P. Banksy's career".
This incident led to online arguments and a graffiti war with many of Banksy's other works being altered by "Team Robbo" - notable ones including the piece Hitchhiker to Anywhere where the "anywhere" was changed to "going nowhere".

Not to say the two artists are not talented, because obviously they both are in their own right. But there is certainly some talent out there in street art.

He was a real writer. Street art is basically the disabled brother of graffiti. Art school failures that think legally painting stencils on walls are a short cut to cash money. Writers paint for themselves and other writers and not to sell the first thing they do. Banksy painted trains before he started using stencils which is where he came up with the idea of stenciling his work. He also painted and stenciled London tubes.

Revok MSK (from the video) was in Bangkok last year. He was painting by the klongs and did a few other things. He has a couple of tags under Nana BTS.

In Africa, people would make beautiful sculpture and they wouldn't sign it. It didn't have anything to do with signing. They had to get the crops in and feed the family. The marketplace separates art from the people. Makes an artist separate and special. The artworld has been separated form the poor despite the fact that all art emanated from the poor. Dance.

Theater. All of it. All started with poor people. Whether it's through religious rites or what have you. And someone who makes a tapestry but cannot write a word is somehow made to feel that they can't go to museums and understand anything. The separation of the artist from politics is artificial, wholly dependent on finances - when you have people making distinctions outside of the tradition of art. ‎
