BKKTRAPPER goes to Tokyo

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Would have to agree OZ is a great country,Good health care system, excellent job opportunities and great prisons with 24/7 movie channels..

Sure the woman are hot too,but they have high expectations when choosing a life partner.

I had dealings with Steve Erwin in the early 80s. He was a self-promoting opportunist, but he also had a masters degree in zoology. In real life, he didn't speak or act in any way like the artificial persona he crafted for TV. It is naive of people to believe that the caricatured stereotypes of Australians created by the likes of Erwin, Hogan, Barry Humphries and Rolf Harris have any serious correlation with reality.

Japan simply doesnt offer good job oppurtunities to westerners, one guy i met worked in hi class english school named berlitz in japan and he was hardly clearing 2000 USD a month thats 6 days a week 10-12 hour days.

Too much work for too little rewards.

japan does offer great jobs to foreigners. The catch is you need to have more than just opposable thumbs to get one. For the better paying jobs you will usually have one before you land in Japan if your skill is in demand. My partner made a very nice 6 figure salary in Japan. He spoke no Japanese when he arrived either. It seems your problem is that aside from teaching English you are looking for jobs that the Japanese can easily fill from local labor.

Become system designer for insurance companies and then submit your CV and you will find jobs are easy to come by that pay handsomely.

Well i have a job offer here in QLD, hard skilled labour is the best way forward.

Jamie lambo knows, i know.

Blue collar labour in the west, party time in South east asia.

I prefer 2 months here, save five Gs then Pattaya /SNV.
Rinse and repeat.

Two months here, two months there.

Best way and the only way.

Yes,you raise an interesting topic..I have always wondered why some on the expats stay in Cambodia.

They earn crap money, work long hours for not even $2000 a month, they even have to loan money off of friends to make it to months end,but when you ask them they're living the dream..lol all smoke and mirrors bullshit.

Yes true that, i know because i have worked in cambodia, the hours are long and you get peanuts, in OZ the hours are on average only 8 hours a day and 5 days a week.

For that you can have a lexus, a big house in the burbs and wear a rolex.

In asia thats not possible.

You're an unskilled laborer, there's no shortage of them anywhere. Keeps running around in circles, that's what you're good at, stick at it.

In australia actually there is an equal amount of labourers to jobs, with only 27 milion people on the continent.

Theres jobs and money for everyone its a good country.

I dont even have to work and the government pay 350$

Thats close to 280 USD a week for doing nothing, bur i dont choose that route because sitting around on newstart benefits is for refuggees and imigrants who cant land a job.

I wil always be able to land a job because i have experience and skills.
