Being a “single” woman in Phnom Penh

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

If you enjoy noise pollution and obnoxious driving practices, Phnom Penh is the place for you!

:dm: Yeah, it's definitely a bit much when one woman posts about her personal experiences in PP bars, because that takes up space on the forum that could have been used by guys talking about their experiences in PP bars. ;)

And now for another shot of tequila. Cheers Roz. :beer1: I enjoy your input and I think we need more women posting here, not less.

Good luck. Prime location, she has loads of muso and non muso friends, is open minded to some degree, by the sounds of it plays good music at a good volume. And she's happy. Can't shit on that. Living my dream (partially)
Violet I am far from disagreeing with your view on how the new place was advertised. And I particularly don't think Roz was to make up a story about what had happened to her. I was saying that she had all the support and sympathetic members backing her on what was a terrible situation she was put though. By a man with threatening actions and very strong word's. The bar she was in sounds like it was one of her regular places, knowing the staff and so on, also sitting in her regular place. No staff to help because she says there all girls.
That is a little bit of an understatement due to the nature of bar, and the girls can certainly sort out situations! If not there is plentiful help and support just outside. Secondly it is the little sayings, such as I should have bought a drink and poured it accidentally over him!!! I would have thought better to buy him a drink and give up my seat so he possibly could get on with the purpose, why he and many males where probably in the bar. Secondly if I were to put myself in that kind of unwanted situation, and could not at least walk away or ease the situation, then being (like some quoted) possibly getting hurt. It would have not been the case of the first punch or rolled up magazine.
Then the addvertising coming into play with a members good will supporting a attacked lady.
Then now with the new place of her own (and yes) I am so happy for her or, most would know my good nature and my views, that is on a westerner running a business here in the first place. Also having a good venue for other western people to go and enjoy. But again it doesn't sound so easy. With now the owner telling a customer basically to mind his own business and keep his advice and professional comments to himself. I would have thought in the situation the landlady started this tread on the bullying of herself, she may have heard the guy out and encouraged him to relax and have another drink!
So when is the CEO party to be held at a good venue :D
Always "hope" but never "expect".

RozzieOz - is Oscar’s downstairs welcoming to Khmer ladies and gays? Or will there be the stare from the staff and customers - like at the Office - of what are you doing here? Or does it welcome all like Ostro?

I’m considering going there one night to check it out. Need some time just to laze away and people watch. De-stress and regain some sanity.

Also Ollie’s and Ollie’s lamb shank on the list of relaxing moments.

Here John,

I'll pass on a little gem that's been indispensable to me whilst attempting to sift through the flotsam and jetsam on CEO:

Are any of Trapper's quotes mentioned in there?

Funny you should mention that because Appendix - C is devoted entirely to him.

I've heard from the man in question that Roz ran into that it happened mid week not weekend and anybody who buys spring rolls at Red Fox doesn't know anything about food and he's trying to reply but doesn't get past mod preview.

That's pretty much all I heard. Don't shoot the messenger!

rozzieoz wrote: Sun May 05, 2019 10:54 am I had a really funny one over the weekend.
I was sitting chatting to someone about Olive & Olive and how great it is. I was talking about the lamb shank that had been slow cooked in the pizza over for eight hours and just melted off the bone.

So the guy sitting on the other side of the person I was talking to leans over and says - "Eight hours! He should get a pressure cooker, it will be done in 40 minutes."
I told him that Olive & Olive didn't really need his advice, despite him insisting he's been a chef for twenty years and knows this stuff.

He called me rude and some other names and then said "I'm never going to talk to you again!" which was great actually, because I was about to suggest to him he do just that. ;)
What nationality was the guy who made the comment about a pressure cooker? Any chance it was undetected humour?
Despite what angsta states, it’s clear from reading through his posts that angsta supports the free FreePalestine movement.
