Begpacker in Vietnam gets told

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

For those of who don't use facebook, could you post a screenshot?

Edit: Oh sorry, looks like I can see the video without having an account there. I don't know what to say about it though. Looks like he has enough money for room and board because his clothes are clean and his hair has been washed recently. Shoes look fairly new as well... he really shouldn't be begging. If he needs to beg, then he should try to find help from family or friends; as a last resort do some cyber-begging.

Edit2: His sign says, "Please help me. I need money. I have lost everything / I have nothing. Please help me. Thank you very much."

It's a video of an expat having a rant at a begpacker holding a begging sign written in Vietnamese, about embarrassing his country, tourists, expats, etc. and giving the young fairly well dressed & clean beggar a reminder of how poor the people of Vietnam are. With a few "GTFOH". And "GTFOH". He finishes with "GTFOH".
Meum est propositum in taberna mori,
ut sint Guinness proxima morientis ori.
tunc cantabunt letius angelorum chori:
"Sit Deus propitius huic potatori."

Looks like the American is some kind of bully. Like it or not that lad is doing nobody any harm and the Authorities of that country don't seem to care. So who does this Yank think he is?

Hanno...... "Totally overboard. Some Tefler working for 3 bucks an hour lording it over some begpacker."

You are totally WRONG about Tim, He is a successful businessman and has the right to expose this little scamming con artist!
Tim commented:
"I told everyone that next time I saw this I was going to pull over and stop it. Foreign scam artist begging for money in a poor country like Vietnam, not gonna happen.
My wife and I have seen this guy all over Saigon for a year now. Read through the comments before you say I was hassling some poor guy just down on his luck."

If you are so kind why don't you invite him to your Oasis Bar and give him a job to help the idiot out?

It's not like that lad is actually going up to pple and annoying them is it? Tim went out of his way to target him because he finds him irritating. Sigh

Wasn't the begger who came across as an idiot in the clip to be fair

Does this guy also harass the Cambodians who come up to your table in bars & restaurants whilst you're actually eating your meal, sticking their hands out for money ?

They're much more annoying than people sitting minding their own business, and to whom people can give money to if they want to
