BEER CAN VALUE

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

BEER CAN VALUE

Post by Luigi »

Anyone have a clue what value a single empty beer can be worth? This month has me thinking I might want to cash in. I'm guessing 100 riel per. Bueller?

It's roughly 100 riel for every 2 cans.

Last time I had around 4 full 50kilo rice bag of crushed cans. It netted me a whipping $7.50.

It's almost not worth the effort.

why dont these can collecters crush them?
surely they would then get five times as much in a bag,but thenni guess theyd not be able to lift it...

I have a rule to never give these collecters money because they soon realise its more profitable to sponge of barangs

see a little kid collecting cans? jog on kiddy
i am on these blocked lists;

The kids on adult-size bikes collecting cans and plastic bottles seem to have found other
career fields (or else have been abducted to star in underground snuff movies.)

There used to be a woman with a bicycle cart who bought our cans and plastic bottles (or technically she tried to buy them 100 Riel notes just take up space and never get spent - so we would waive payment) and I think she paid 100 Riel for 2 cans or bottles too.

Is there still a foreigner trying to make his living doing the recycling thing in PP? I remember a story from a few years back when there was.
