Bastard landlords...

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Prawns and shrimp are the same. No Ozzie would ever say shrimp. The Paul Hogan ad was aimed 100% at the Yank market, that's why they used American vernacular.
Scampi are completely different, they have claws, prawns don't.
Sausages are snags.

haha that is true, and some regions will more commonly call them all shirmp (america) and others call them all Prawn (australia)
the average joe wouldnt really be able to tell the difference either way other than commonly (king/tiger) Prawns are bigger and shrimp are smaller

Wrong. The differentiation in Oz is that the big ones are prawns, and the little ones (maybe an inch or so long) are shrimp.

A European told me about 20 years ago, that in Europe it's the other way around. But I don't know (Never been there).

we dont really eat that many Shrimp dishes in the UK
