SC has been praying hard to keep his cool. Must be working since he's resisted the urge to play rough with his landlord -Ed Hammer wrote:maybe a silly point but how about praying to lord jesus ! I mean he supposed to help , right?
Praise the lord and stay calm.

Re: Bastard landlords...
The lease is on a standard government-issue form that is in both Khmer and English, and is boilerplate text. It's also registered with the sangkat (I believe many are not although tenants are told differently).takeoman wrote:Hotdigr is right English translations of documentation won't even get considered in court, if there is a khmer version. You really don't want to give him any grounds to involve the courts, cause even if he doesn't win neither will you. Sounds like he has been getting shit from the family over your departure, now his attempt to stop that has resulted in him losing face. In this situation I agree with those who have told you to "pick up your air conditioners and walk" sooner rather than later.
Nothing heard today so I'm hoping it's going to quieten off.
That would make a good poster. Keep calm and praise the Lord! I admit there was a moment I would have liked to do him harm - it was about when he shifted gear from "you not pay me" to "oh, okay, you pay me, but arrears, not advance" - the whole angry/wounded "you're stealing from me" got to me more than it should.Anchor Moy wrote:SC has been praying hard to keep his cool. I don't subscribe to the Dear Santa Jesus theology, but I do find a lot of strength in my faith at times like this. Thank God.

We're going to do a one-day dash, we'll pack into boxes and we have a removalist booked to be in and out in a day.

Out of interest, have you ever had problems with any of the other places you rented in Cambodia? Unpaid bills or anything like that?

Did you seriously just create a new sock to ask this question, Francis? Wow, I feel so... violated.Cambo Dear wrote:Out of interest, have you ever had problems with any of the other places you rented in Cambodia? Unpaid bills or anything like that?
Nope, no problems in the two places we've rented previously. The last landlord tried to move back in too early once we'd started moving out, but that was a genuine mistake on his part. His mother (the owner) then refused to give us a full refund for the balance of the last month after they moved a new tenant in, and before we had handed the keys back. Our landlord prior to that was Murray - which you either understand without further discussion or you don't.
Edit: two places, not three, we've rented previously.
