Re: Barangs know your place here.
Sometimes in life other people seem to be rude to you or slight you.
Maybe there was a misunderstanding or someone else had reserved the duck. Maybe he got confused, or someone else offered him more, or he saw a regular customer he wanted to satisfy.
Maybe like he said, you were too drunk to know what as going on or maybe you didn't understand the local language or custom.
Sometimes you go to a busy bar and you're next to be served and the bartender passes you over and serves someone else.
Or you buy a woman a drink and then she quickly ditches you for another guy.
These things often are not related to skin color at all.
Sometimes you'll be the beneficiary and someone else may feel slighted.
It's just life. It doesn't mean Khmers mistreat foreigners.

There seems to be a presumption of innocence on the part of the Khmer girls who get 'befriended' by aging expats. I would suggest the expats are in fact the prey, not the predators.Phnom Poon wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 9:03 amlol, not exactly

Great illustration, where is it from?
Silence, exile, and cunning.
Re: Barangs know your place here.
I can't remember now, I have it on file. I found it relevant after I had been in country a couple of months and I was spending time in the riverside bars. Luckily I am now in Siem Reap, well away from the song of the sirens.

Never had any bitterness after 10 years residence. Spoke workable Khmer and always loved the interaction. Living in Australia is much more fraught. Wish I was at home in Cambodia.

Looks similar to cautionary tales that missus watches all the time. Animated graphics.lagrange wrote:
