Barang hipster marries his Khmer boyfriend...

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Nope - not with that hairpiece as a beard. Too Borat. 8-)

What is a hipster anyway ? I thought it was something invented by TOF on a slow day. Isn't it a US expression for someone who likes jazz ?

But this is really a thing that people do. :ugeek:

I think it was, in the early 1940s. I'd like to believe that language evolves though. So it went from Hipster/Beatnik to Hippy, and lately got back to Hipster again.
None of it really means anything. I'm more into skinhead/apocalypse culture, fuck those hi-falutin sons of bitches.

What is a hipster anyway ?
beard, lumberjack shirt, retro buddy holly glasses; all are official qualifiers, with elective points for man bun or fishermen's pants.

More like fashion choices your grandfather probably used to make.

Did they try to hold a gay wedding ceremony in the village without paying local cops the customary wedding "protection" fee, like that Finnish guy did last year?
I had to pay a wedding protection fee around 2005 when I married mad-ex #2 in remote Issan. (I mean she became mad-ex #2 - at that time she had no 'label').

About 4 police attended the wedding and evening reception, acting as private security.

I wanted to ask for my money back when some lads from the neighbouring village, angry at not being invited to the free booze-up, started shooting their guns towards those enjoying the party (including me). The police started shooting back and I decided it was time for bed....
