Bar Closures in Phnom Penh Over COVID-19?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

For as long as that is implemented, it will at least save us from posts like "The ATM gave me fake dollar notes!!!" where the visit to a reputable massage parlour afterwards was easily forgotten.

There's always a silver lining...

Are these closers and postponing new year to stop the spread of the non existent virus here? something doesn't add up,

Sorry to interrupt your class warfare rant, but part of the trillions passed was a direct payment to people and families out of work. Blocks of protective equipment have been bought up and shipped out to the hospitals (some would say at the expense of other countries), schools are going on-line, handing out laptops, internet providers providing free internet and removing data limits, bridging loans are being handed out to small business (without repayment provided they keep their employees).

This epidemic is affecting the entire world. Everyone needs to come together. Going back to the drivel of class warfare won’t provide any solutions.

Sorry for the off topic rant. Let’s get back to the discussion of closing the bars and massage joints to discourage gathering and hopefully breaking the virus chain.

Let's be frank, they want people to not gather as an attempt to combat what might become an epicentre to widespread infections, if of course the virus is indeed there. The reality is, despite the incredibly low numbers, reducing gatherings will help to reduce any potential spread. :beer2:

Totally agree , it's working O/s to stop the spread just seems to have taken a long time to implement for some reason .

oh fuck off mother teresa
of course we need to come together

but that doesn't mean getting looted by corporates and finance while we're at it

go check the fine print
you don't know what you're talking about if you think the trillions are aimed at individuals

as far as bar closures, i can't see how landlords can expect to be paid
if business is forced to close, rent and interest should be forcibly waived, all the way up the chain
but i doubt that will ever happen

Did someone mention everyone coming together in a massage parlour? Anyone know what one?
