I used to be somewhat sympathetic to the police as they have to deal with a lot of shit day to day. But now the police have become so militarized and have an attack dog mentality instead of a "policing" mentality (diffuse conflict, restore order, protect and serve).

It seems sometimes like they want to start a race war.

one big factor in this is you're dealing with media feed... not day to day.

it's easy to cherry pick and paint a picture. and sailorman, what if they were standing off against illegal mexicans or muslims? you'd be hooting and hollaring in joy then!

OD, I hate police in America, but the federal law that's been on the books for a long. long time says that if you are in my country without the proper visa's, paperwork you are a criminal and subject to deportation. Even you can't argue with that one as its in the Code of Federal Regulations/United States Code.

The big corporations and agro-corporations like ConAgra want these illegals in the country for cheap labor that can't complain about the working conditions. I'm all for a 2 year worker visa issued by the US embassy in the country of that the people are from. Now is that racists, I think not. You can come to my country, work, pay tax's, abide by the law, pay for health care, but you have to do it within the system.

As to Islam. I will defend the right of people to worship anything they want as long as it doesn't intrude on other people. Islam wants to enforce its own laws and force other non-believes to abide by those antiquated laws. Who is killing people over religion at this moment? Islamofascist. Who is intolerant of other religions. Islamofascists. Who are invading other countries all over the world as illegal aliens? Islamofascists. Wake up, its a holy war and we in the western/secular world are losing.

Your immigration solution is great... now... make that happen. Instead of preaching supporting the wholesale deportation and rallying against the illegals, instead preach support of said 2 year easy to get visa. Making a single statement of a non racist solution in the face of constant rallying against a group (with the occasional "i like SOME mexicans... as long as their legal" to opt yourself out of the race card) doesn't cut it. You've quite likely violated federal laws yourself on occasion... probably old ones that are dumb and have no real sensible application on the modern world. Ever thrown away junk mail that came to your house but was addressed to someone else, like a previous resident? You just violated federal law. Ever drop off a note in someones mailbox? Yep... federal violation right there! Of course, they're never enforced because they're stupid. Code of federal regulations or not. If you disagree go turn yourself in post haste for your postal infractions and do your time!

The same goes for our current immigration laws... they just don't work. While they're not working the real options are deny families or give a little amnesty while we work it out. In the mean time we've chosen door number 3... do no actual change while constantly bitching and pointing fingers, with the occasional fucking over of a family or two in the process.


Islam... man, you are great with these generalizations. Question, would you consider all the various factions of christianity the same? Would you, for instance, consider the small christian church in a rural town to be a part of the same overall organization as the group Concerned Christians? The latter went to Israel with plans to suicide bomb holy sites because they believed their deaths would send them to heaven. Sound familiar? Christofacists one might even say.
You probably wouldn't assume all christians are like that... and would likely scoff at anyone who supported raiding that simple little church for explosives as a simpleton (or grossly uninformed at the very least) who just knew nothing about christianity and the various subgroups in it. Right? Guess what you just did with the Islam religion. Quite a large number of muslims are against sharia law. Just like quite a few think it has multiple interpretations and don't agree on them. You say wake up... I say perhaps you're the one who's been dozing off and not doing your due diligence before jumping to an opinion.

Do they not have to be militarized to deal with modern society? Especially in a country where the public can buy assault rifles. Did they not up their firepower after those guys outgunned them with armour piercing automatic weapons?
I do find American police to be a bit harsh when I see them on TV. I probably shouldn't comment on it as I have no experience of USA, but I find American law and order fascinating.

Society has an "attack dog" mentality nowadays.
