Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! My biggest problem was that there was a doctor there who in all honesty doesn’t really know much doctoring work. Stupid arsehole didn’t even realize benzosdiazepines have Terrible withdrawal. Anyways, the doc saw this old man and just complained. Cuz the old guy claimed he had asthma, they bought him a few inhalers and expected him to tough it out. He was in there iirc about like 5 days I wanna say? He was kinda fine the first two days there and he slowly like lost his mind. His legs were swollen (edema) and I’m sure it’s the same w his lungs too. His kidney was probably shot. The “rehab” just kinda told him since he ain’t got no money to tough it out. Old bastard ended up dying around like 1:20 am or 1:40 am Iirc.

I forgot to mention, the embassy did go visit pretty quickly to try to get him out of Cambodia. They basically asked him to try to get a family member (his sister) to help him get a plane ticket out. If his family wouldn’t help then they’d pay for the ticket. He was like three dAys away from hoppin on that plane assuming he would have been healthy enough to get in. Unfortunately he wasn’t. Iirc, he had a sister in England. I dunno if she actually cares to know what really happened w him but if she did, I would be glad to share with her what he was like and did the 5 days of his life.

Moral lesson: behave and make the most/best of the few decades one is entitled to on this planet.

RIP to the guy and condolences to the family he left behind.

But some visitors have pretty unrealistic expectations of the Kingdom of Wonder. Somehow expecting foreigners locked up will have access to first class medical care and skilled physicians on call to treat what chronic illnesses that they themselves had been neglecting. All for free.

The embassy was about to fly him out (possibly for free if no one was paying) before he unfortunately died.

Cambodia is not a western country. There is no safety net, and should not be expected when things take a turn for the worst.

Any foreigner that has mental issues, anger problems, or otherwise issues that will get them in trouble, please don’t go to the Kingdom of Wonder.

I hate seeing all these preventable deaths and lives that would not have been cut short - if they hadn’t come to Cambodia.

Well, the old man was staying in Thailand. He told me he was a cab driver back in England and that he would go to Thailand often for what most of these people go to SEA for and that’s to fk huukerz. He’d asked me before if I ever tried a lady boy n told me I should. First day I’d met him he told me he tried a lady boy once. Three days later he told me he’d tried it three times.

But yeah, anyways. He claimed he had a system in roulette that would guarantee winning money. Only problem was that it would take too long sometimes. It requires he look over a roulette table that had ten straight winnings for a color (red or black) n then he would bet on the color that won. Well, he originally I think was collecting disability from
England but eventually when they found out he was just spending it all in Thailand they cut him off. So as he was broke, he crossed over to Cambodia to play roulette. Of course he lost. He said it was cuz he didn’t follow his system and he did rip off a lot of eateries. He bragged that it was initially pretty easy. He’d just pretend to try to pay w a credit card that didn’t work n tell them he’d pay them the next day once he could withdraw. anyways the old man ended up being caught without his passport not because he lost it or it being stolen, nah, he pawned it it for like $300 or something. But yeah, he didn’t go to Cambodia looking for a vacation. He was stupidly hoping. To make his fortune at the casino. God, as he was slowly dying over the week he was there they kept trying to get me to make him take a bath since he smelled like crap. He couldn’t even stand and he’d freak out cuz they would drag him to the showers and pour water on him. They made ME clean his ass after he room a shit. They don’t have gloves in places like these. I had to use a bag. God @_@. Stupid bs rehab. I was so pissed about how that place was run I said to somebody, I think it was a patient who spoke English cuz he’d lived in new zealand for a while, I told this nz guy I wouldn’t lie about how he died even though the owners told us to. N the owners of this place are like high ranking in the immigration department. God fk that place. Fk dta.
