Bag Snatching Thief gets a taste of Khmer Street Justice

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. When I see video of a thief doing what thieves do, I want to see them caught and pummelled. But when I see video of such a thief being pummelled, it is never a very satisfying experience (after a point). The kicks to the back of the head of a person on the ground offering no resistance, even a thief, is disturbing. I imagine if I knew that particular criminal hurt somebody during his crime I would feel much less sympathy while viewing that.

That sums my thoughts up perfectly.

Logically, I hope they rip off the thieving cunt's arms. But seeing anyone helpless get beat like that just seems so wrong.

I guess that's what's so civil about due process, but with lack of that here I say a beat down isn't the worst scenario. Image

CambodiaExpatsOnline.com "a friendly place for expats to come and chat".
Why wasn't this posted in the Videos and Entertainment forum?

Good question. That's for longer films, etc, and that section doesn't allow comments.

People who have their bags snatched DO get hurt. They often fall over so can suffer quite bad grazing, cuts and bruises. This guy got off lightly tbvh.

Absolutely! It's not even like I have some issue with 100% of all thefts. If some poverty stricken kid steals food from a super market, then that's permissible. The super market isn't gonna be broke because of that and the kid doesn't have to starve anymore. So, that's fine by me. I haven't got any sympathy with these petty criminals though. They steal from people who are barely any better off than themselves and their victims are often too poor to call the cops for help and in the process of stealing other people's shit, they're not shy of hurting their victims. I'm reminded of a woman that frequented the make up shop next to my GF's make up shop at the old market. One evening some dude tried to snatch her purse and when she tried to resist that asshole pulled a gun on her. Where upon she let go of the purse and he made her take off her jewelry and hand it over too. Let that sink in. Some complete dickhead who probably needed drug money threatened the life of another human being over a purse and some jewelry, both of which could've been completely worthless for all that he knew. Now, if anybody kicked that asshole's teeth in it would be well deserved.

And lets not forget the poor French woman who was dragged off her bike by bag snatchers a couple of years back and fell into the path of an oncoming vehicle. She died. No sympathy for the thieves. You play the game, you know the possible consequences.

Same. I always find myself wondering what life handed the guy that thieving is his only option.
