Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. When the British embassy steps in to assist somebody it does not cost tax payers any money. The air fare and any other costs have to be paid back, they take away your passport on arrival in the UK

Sure, I imagine these fuck-ups are very prompt about making repayments and it wouldn't cost the taxpayers a penny.

A " british tax payer" receiving help from the consulate would be unable to travel again with no passport so i suspect that most pay back the couple of hundred pounds for the air ticket. If the government were to treat non payment in the same way they do for a fine then good bring it on.
There seems to be two opinions on here.

1/ The embassy will not help you when you are in trouble and will tell you fuck off whilst eating cucumber sandwiches and drinking gin.
2 / Wasters and druggies get tax payer handouts from the embassy when they get in trouble.

People will believe what they want to believe, never mind the facts.

And "respectable" people don't need help in the first place.
Don't forget that one.
