Do backpackers shower?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. fuck dorms in south east asia(or anywhere really)
tbh POD Hostel in Bangkok near the victory monument is alright and probably have the best dorms ive seen, but your paying 400 baht for the privilege, 550 for a private single room, just an aircon room with a bed, stupidly overpriced, but its aimed at the more richer asian market not the hippy backpackers, plus its right next to the victory monument (minivans to anywhere/BTS)

i always stay in Private rooms, i need my own space, prefer guesthouses to hotels and its alright when you get regular places and know the owners and can get discount, im only paying $7 a night for my place in PP atm in high season....
dorms.... *shudders*

There is some real weirdos in the one im at now.
One old guy is dying of what looks like full blown aids and another older german who looks like a stereotypical NAMBLA who sits and stairs at the other backpackers when there asleep. Hahaha

Dorms in asia!?! :o Really no offence, but fuck mate, scrounge a couple more dollars together and get a fnckin' room. Even when I was backpacking in SA and Asia in my late teens I could afford a private room.

I've never understood the dorm mentality. Literally a couple more dollars for some privacy

Sure, in places like Asia, where a single room is so cheap, it don't make sense. But in Europe sometimes you might just have to do dorms. Think Amsterdam for example, they've always been doing dorms. You can meet cool dudes and have fun with people you meet...but yea, if a single room is damn cheap, why choose a dorm, especially when it's so frikkin touristy in Thailand and impossible NOT to meet other travellers.

Whereas, in Amsterdam, a single person might just START off meeting another person in a hostel, as in a dorm friend, etc.

Dorms are boring as fuck , specially in south east asia , might get a charactor here and there but mostly closet feminist lesbos with half there head shaved and a mans face on a womens body with elephant pants and permanent frown.
