Aussies and Kiwis, what's the difference ?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Aussies and Kiwis, what's the difference ?

Post by Anchor Moy »

Continuing from the other thread...
https://cambodiaexpatsonline.com/newswor ... 31-10.html
Samouth:
Sorry guys, i didn't mean to cause you guys to fight over this subject. I was just wondering about this thing, since we have both poster originally from Australia and New Zealand. They don't seem to get a long with each other well and that always doubted me.
IMO Aussies and Kiwis get along fine except when its to do with sport. There is also the big country vs little country thing which could also be described as a superiority complex vs an inferiority complex. And of course the different accents and a few expressions. And the beer...
The countries are quite different, but the people not so much.
I can see that they are both different, but at the same time I don't see much difference between them. They will both hate me for that btw. :stir:
:OD: Peace bros. I just don't want to stereotype yous. Lol.

Q: What's a hindu?
A: Ut lays iggs, bro.

Edit: oldie but goodie.

Bodge: This ain't Kansas, and the neighbours ate Toto!

from what ive gathered, its more when people mix up where they come from like....
"oh are you an auzzy??" .... "Nah! im Kiwi"
a similar way that Canadians get mixed up for being American (US)

i think Canadians and Kiwis would get offended due to their countries actually being better than the country theyre getting mixed up with :P

however i dont think its in a similar way to say Scotland vs. England, if you asked a scottish guy if he was english he would probably hit ya hahaha there is a deep routed historical hatred between the scots and the English, where as Aussies and Kiwis i dont think they really have any serious "Rivalry"??

Copied form another thread, my comment but!

Ozzies and Kiwi's actually get on really well together. We share the same dry and laconic sense of humour. We give each other shit all the time, but when it comes down to it, would rely on and trust each other more then we would almost any other race. Read Stroppy's (long winded lol) post. It captures the relationship pretty bloody well. And screw the cricket - how are the Warriors doing this year? LMFAO and GO THA BRONCO'S!

Most Aussies would be shocked if they knew the nationality of their famous singers, song writers and bands, along with their tv presenters movie stars, sports hero's , Kiwi's are quite happy to let the subject of nationality slide while they get on with living and making a better life.

So lets start a list of famous Australians, who were born in NZ.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.
