Post by prahocalypse now »

An attractive and stylish white woman is helping to feed, clothe, educate, and house poor street children in Phnom Penh. She's also giving kids teddy bears.

She wrote on facebook:
Hi guys I live in Phnom Penh and hate the poverty here. I’m helping kids I teach in a school and am starting a class outdoor for some kids ie met.
I document all I do on my page One smile at a time
And I would like as many locals on the page for local advice please.
Any business owners willing to do deals on rice or water containers. Blankets. clothes. Lotion for head lice or toothbrushes I would b happy to do regular deals.
Also If any business owners have any damaged unsellable items please donate to our cause.
Anything anyone has books clothes even advise please share it.
Here’s some photos of some kids I age clothes and food to today and I’m on my way back to riverside now with a suitcase to give to the children sleeping a teddy and some clothes.
All live on my page.

One shouldn't be cynical but over many years young Australian women look for good causes to make their CVs look good. Often they are "models" in Australia.

All of us are a bit egotistical and motivated by a mixture of ugly things mixed with sincere compassion. I suspect she's no different and is probably doing mostly good.

Very few men can pull off humanitarian work with children in Cambodia, and those that do put themselves in grave danger. Neeson is one exception it seems and good for him. I wish more well intended guys could do that, because there's so much to be done. Women OTOH totally fly under the radar of any onerous speculation of motives, so the job lands in their laps. Sure, shes proud of her breasts, but that doesn't preclude her good works.

True. When I just started living here some years ago the kids of my Khmer neighbours asked if they could swim in my pool and me to teach them some English. Which was no problem for me and I actually enjoyed it since I don't have any children and I live alone anyway. Until a year later some local expat told me I shouldn't do that since it gives me a bad reputation. At that moment I didn't really care because most of my friends here are Khmer anyway but some days later it made me shiver people would think about me that way. A week after I had to tell the neighbours kids and their friends to stop coming since I couldn't get those comments out of my mind. I'm not saying I did good work by letting them swim and teach them some english but I can only imagine what kind of gossip among the expats a man must go through when trying to set up a real children charity here.

I'd love to read Mr. and/or Mrs. Stroppy's reaction to this post. Call me naive but I fail to find the beast in this beauty.
As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.
