Attack at Naga House - Kampot

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. It must take a lot of noise to have guests from other guest houses complain. Isn’t the nearest neighbor several km of shitty flooded dirt road away? It doesn’t sound ideal to spend a holiday traveling to and from Naga House to complain.

Is there like a hotline? “Hi stramash it’s me again. This is the 3rd time and you know the drill. Rub your dub next week!”
Weirdly, I have the remix of blip dibbidy wub wub somewhere in my collection.

Current music policy at Naga is world music, reggae, hip hop, drum 'n' bass, and dub.

There are several neigbouring guesthouses along that stretch, plus the river can carry sound at times.

4. If there is a 3rd complaint, then PA system is turned off.

know we have to listen to complaints and react accordingly, and do so every time.
Just a brief digression here but holy shit.

So, if I'm clear, this place admittedly gets regular complaints regarding the loud music. So much so that they have an established procedure in place to deal with complaints, based on how many complaints are received on a given night?!?

Glad I'm not your fucking neighbor.

How about being reasonable people that realize they are part of a diverse community and keep the volume at a lower level to start with?

Do you think the neighbors enjoy getting up 2 to 3 times in a night to tell you to knock it off?

Here's a novel idea, police yourself instead of relying on your long suffering neighbors to tell you when it's time to be good little girls and boys and go beddy-bye.

This must be some snowflake, millennial fucktardery because I'm at a loss here.

/rant, carry on.
I have to agree with this. Playing music that you know is loud enough for nearby guesthouses to hear it late at night and then only turning it down a little if someone complains, and then the next night going right back to the original complaint-inducing volume is a dick move. For every person who complains there are probably twenty who can't sleep but don't complain.

You miss the point: complaints are rare now because we turn it down WITHOUT RECEIVING COMPLAINTS from around midnight. It is even rarer to get to complaint #3.

But it would be the same people complaining time and again, I think that's the point.

First you say this:
Stramash23 wrote: Mon Jun 18, 2018 11:47 amOn Saturday, we did get to #4, and the decks and PA were turned off at 1.05am.
and then this:
Stramash23 wrote: Mon Jun 18, 2018 12:40 pm and maximum of 3 complaints
Stramash23 wrote: Mon Jun 18, 2018 1:15 pm It is even rarer to get to complaint #3.
Sounds like you're trying to massage this a bit.

Just cop to the fact that you're probably very crumby neighbors to have and that it's most likely due to the exuberance, self-centeredness and wilfulness of misspent youth.

Now let's get this thread back on track. Where were we... ah yes rozzieoz would make an atrocious CIA operative.

If you kept me awake every night until
around midnight
, your power cables would have an accident before too long.

And from Prakas 42: maximum nosie levels permitted between 22:00 and 06:00: 45 decibel.

The point is the music is consistently too damn loud. You've been here long enough to understand that many are too tolerant. How about you be a decent neighbour and never have to receive a complaint again? Because we all know, once the khmers start complaining, the end is not far away. It's a subtle hint: do something easy before Khmers do something difficult...you know that back home you would have been closed down after the 3rd complaint.
