Tbf we've heard from stramash telling us the other side..but one voice does not make it fact.

Stramash, are you in any way connected to the club/place in question? Owner/management?

I was the DJ on Saturday. We followed our usual procedure:

1. Turn it down a little from around midnight
2. 1st complaint - turn down further and turn bass down a lot
3. 2nd complaint - turn down a little more.
4. If there is a 3rd complaint, then PA system is turned off.

On Saturday, we did get to #4, and the decks and PA were turned off at 1.05am. From then, music was only from the small speakers behind bar (which have never ever led to a complaint)

I left at just after 2am, and there was no trouble at that point, nor any looking likely.

Having spoken to 3 folk who were still there, none of them knew of any incident till after it was over. The OP made it sound like the place was besieged. The truth seems to be that a local who was a customer there had a dispute with other locals. Whether that dispute was pre-existing or a new one, I have no idea.

The owners and management know we have to listen to complaints and react accordingly, and do so every time.
I'm glad we cleared this up.

We went from "there's nothing to see here it's all hearsay" to "my hearsay is better than yours, and we were at the highest Red Alert #4 when I left," LoL.

;)

Come on Stramash, what was the fight over? I'm guessing a woman.

This place is right next to Banyan Tree, where a foreigner reportedly attacked a ladyboy and women last month. Can anyone shed any new light on that too?

I want to hear some reliable hearsay about it.

And both those places are great spots to hang out at, day or night. Much better than Salty Dog or some of the other new ones that have popped up over there lately .

Just a brief digression here but holy shit.

So, if I'm clear, this place admittedly gets regular complaints regarding the loud music. So much so that they have an established procedure in place to deal with complaints, based on how many complaints are received on a given night?!?

Glad I'm not your fucking neighbor.

How about being reasonable people that realize they are part of a diverse community and keep the volume at a lower level to start with?

Do you think the neighbors enjoy getting up 2 to 3 times in a night to tell you to knock it off?

Here's a novel idea, police yourself instead of relying on your long suffering neighbors to tell you when it's time to be good little girls and boys and go beddy-bye.

This must be some snowflake, millennial fucktardery because I'm at a loss here.

/rant, carry on.

Highest red alert? That's as dramatic as the OP's first post.

The PA system had been turned off for an hour when I left, so it was nothing to do with the music.

Nothing had occurred when I left just after 2. There were still a good 60-80 people there at that point.

I have spoken to 3 people who were there till later and they had not been aware of any siege going on and only knew something had happened later.

Over a woman could be a good guess, bloody troublemakers those females!

I only knew of the Banyan Tree incident from the posts of the ladyboy and the counter-posts from the attacker

Electronic blip blip, sounds like techno to me.

You let your neighbors complain 4 times about the noise per week before shutting it off... Are you sure the dispute wasn’t about the noise?

If you think 60s ska or dub is techno, then okay :)

No, they don't complain every week, the complaints are occasional and are responded to. More often than not, our automatic turning down at midnight is sufficient and most weeks there are no complaints at all. But sometimes a guest at a neighbouring guest house finds it loud, so we again respond.

Oh, and maximum of 3 complaints, not 4

There was no ska or dub when I was there ages ago. Only some of that blip dibbidy wub wub ya mon stuff.

It must take a lot of noise to have guests from other guest houses complain. Isn’t the nearest neighbor several km of shitty flooded dirt road away? It doesn’t sound ideal to spend a holiday traveling to and from Naga House to complain.

Is there like a hotline? “Hi stramash it’s me again. This is the 3rd time and you know the drill. Rub your dub next week!”
