Armed and Dangerous Canadian Thief Gary Best ARRESTED in PP!

Post by General Mackevili »

A well-known Canadian nutter, Gary Best, is back in Cambodia and apparently stealing from guesthouses.

Gary Best is also known as Garnet Best or just "G" and has had a long history of problems here, with expats and locals.

I remember him from the LakeSide days and he was once very upset because of some trouble he had with locals in Sihanoukville. He claimed he owed them money or something and a group of Cambodian thugs kidnapped him, stripped him down naked, tied him up and tortured him, took blackmail pics and threatened a bunch of nasty stuff if he didn't pay up.

That was back around 2009/2010 I think.

He also got his ass kicked several times by locals around then, so he has a long history of pissing people off.

He was recently caught on CCTV security cameras stealing bottles of booze and a WiFi router from a guesthouse in Kampot.

If G/Garnette/Garnett/Garnet/Gary/Garry Best comes into your establishment it's probably best if you tell him to take a hike.

I don't have a problem with assholes, but I do have a problem with thieves. He has now been caught on CCTV armed with a knife while stealing stuff from a guesthouse, so I think it's time he gets his own thread on CEO.

Here are some comments taken off Facebook:
...we had A Booze thief this morning, ... He is between 50 & 60 years old, Canadian, shaven bald head, a small blonde goatee on his chin, and a bad attitude. From the pictures He is obviously armed, and stupid, and may be carrying a wireless router. Most people who meet this guy instantly want to vomit from the stench of his verbal diarrhoea, and most of the conversations he has are in lieu of a drug sale to tourists - and for that reason he has been asked to leave several establishments in Kampot already, ours included...
Barang thief in Kampot, early friday morning. Stole 3 bottles of booze and a good wireless router. Any info that can be ascertained regarding his place of residence or guesthouse would be extremely helpful.
canadian. he came to my bar a week before for a drink then left cos everyone thought he was a dickhead
At little garden, they refused to take him in, he tries by phone now... He rents a motorbike near Tela gaz station, and walks always around NYNY street... Here they say he is dangerous and really not very polite, they were afraid of him
ive seen him in pp 2 days ago. he said was staying at Le grand Mekong o the river front, i dont know if is true..
He lived (or still does?) in Sihanoukville for long time, I've seen him around there regularly between 2005 and 2008. Was surprised to see him in Kampot last week ... Always been a nasty piece of work. Anyway, post pics on sihanoukville noticeboard and pretty sure that the Snookypats can give more info ...
Scary stuff! The knife is enough to turn my stomach. Be safe you guys. He comes across as an absolute nutter. Why do we have to have bothersome vermin like this in our lives??
his name is not known, but goes by 'Muhammed', he is from Canada and stays between Paris Guesthouse and Borey Bokor II, on the Captain Chims restaurant street. He is in SKV this week, but apparently will return by friday.
an old whitey prowling about with a knife at 5 in the morning is actually quiet alarming. You have little kids...
Run him out of cambodia we don't need that type of scum here
So, this is a good picture of what Gary/Garnet Best looks like:

And here are some creepy pictures of him robbing a guesthouse armed with a knife:

I remember this guy from 2008/09 pissing people off on the Lakeside. I then saw him trying to sell rocks to tourists in Sihanoukville a few years later.

Yep. I'm glad there's finally some evidence on him. He was hated on LakeSide.

I also remember him having a huge cut on his hand from a fight that got infected and he was looking like he was on death's doorstep for a while before he got it taken care of.

Oh, and here is the video footage of him stealing shit. This video creeps me out.

Remember, if you hear something in the middle of the night, it could be Gary Best stumbling around in the dark with a big knife, looking for things to steal....

I hope the owners of the guesthouse got the police involved, he sounds like a nasty piece of work, even more so for the fact that he is carrying a blade and may be crazy and stupid enough to actually use it.

ya know, there's places a guy like that would simply be disappeared by the locals. One would think that would be pretty easy to do there. Hog farm dump, sorted.
