Are you locked in Cambodia and dreaming to go back to Thailand soon ?
Re: Are you locked in Cambodia and dreaming to go back to Thailand soon ?
How true and the translation is elegant, the sentiment admirable. We say: Donkey goes only once on the ice..
From which country does this pithy saying originate?
To the OP: The Thailand you knew is all gone now.
Quite probably never to return.
Unlike Australia who denies entry to it's own citizens.Nobody is locked in Cambodia, unless in prison, not once have they closed the country off to the outside world during the pandemic.

I'm sure I'm not the only person here who has never had the slightest interest in living in Thailand? It's a great country with a lot going for it but I would never consider living there.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

I lived and worked in Bangkok for just over a year, and traveled there extensively in the years prior. I have no desire to live there again, and I haven't even visited there since 2015. Completely over it.

Last time i went to thailand to get my macbook fixed I had a 30 days visa and planned to stay that long but came back here after just 20 days and was happy to be back , couldn’t even find any weed on my own ( i’m sure my mother in law could have got me some if it were the olden days ) , I even asked the cops and they didn’t know . .
Ever since the king died ( before actually ) the place ain’t any good .. long ago I was there 10 years and 2 thai kids ..

I lived in Pattaya for 8 years, enjoyed it for the most part however as the years went by the change in the locals attitude was very noticeable.
In a word the hate foreigners generally speaking.
If they can get you for anything they will as an example rental deposits once a deposit is paid don't expect to get it back no matter how well you maintain the property.
The Cambodian folks are far more excepting of falangs IMHO

Exactly. For me, it started disintegrating 5-6 years ago and then some. The sanook is long gone.
I wrote a much longer piece but why stretch out the obvious that the new Thailand is here to stay. I just don't care any more.
