are you happy in the KoW?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Of course there is, and thats why they're living in Cambodia.

Some run bars, others restaurants, business's of all sorts.

Just because your level viewpoint rests with ladyboys, skanks, and general lowlifes, don't mean that's the same for others, at least not so much....

Saigonjacket is a typical example of "Frog in the well" syndrome.

Point being is there something in the water here that just fucks people up completely?
I think many people in kow would be happier if you stopped posting.

I think it's not the water, it's the other cockhead tourists ( insert name) , who think they know Cambodia and continually bitch about it and how it's shit........

My other post not withstanding, I can say as they say down in my neck of the woods in Dixie, "H'aint been so happy since the pegs up and et my baby brother."

Translation for Yankees and others.
"I haven't been so happy since the pigs ate my baby brother."
As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.

This. Plenty of hard-working foreigners in Siem Reap, but you won't find them on Sok Sang at 5 am......

Anchor Moy wrote: Sun Jul 30, 2017 9:20 pm @OP Are you happy OP ? You are not in the KOW anymore are you ? But are you any happier than before ? Some people are not happy anywhere. I don't think you can blame a country for your personal level of happiness.

It's been said before, but it's not true that all Cambodian expats live on barstools in Siem Reap. That may be your Cambodian experience, but you should stop imagining that everyone is like you.
my decisions changed about living back in SR when I saw a new breed of barangs hanging on soksan rd at 5am drinking the flat, warm leftover dregs and fighting over the last rancid ladyboy / sketchy hooker in the bar.
Enough said. Most of us don't have this problem, and if we do, then we know that it's not Cambodia that is at fault if we are wasted on Soksan Rd at 5am. Your choice.

Don't you see how ridiculous it is to be complaining about your own choices, when you are so privileged to even have a choice. Nobody is forcing you to hang out with 'rancid ladyboys' and cheap barangs in shitty bars. And even worse, you bitch about them.

Some posters here don't have a choice about living in Cambodia anymore, but they suck it up and make the best of what they've got. They make a life. That's what adults do.
You probably don't understand what I'm saying so never mind.

BTW, the answer to the OP question is yes. Mostly, but not always, just like IRL. Sometimes good, sometimes not :drooling bouncy:
With all due resect AM, I think you protest too much. Do you reckon it's around one or two percent that aren't doing what the OP suggests? Actually to add my pov, it's not as many as 98%,. A lot of people, not sure of % but I see the expat ghosts around from time to time which I recognize as being kindred spirits, don't drink, don't use hookers,, but mainly stay at home bored to tears, and so join dodgy inet forums to entertain ourselves. We often get found dead in our apartment after years working here. Lol

For some reason, and it's not money, I always buy six month visas instead of the whole year. So I guess I'm happyish, but realise there may be more to life. I'm not stuck here though. I like TBs post because, as he said he is kinda stuck, but he's one of the few people here that you will find being honest about it.
