Are National Flags Copyrighted?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. I have read it's to honour the Nipponese & their Yen for the bridges pictured.

Yeah... but now they are going to have to change the pictures of bridges to casinos... and the flag to one having a solid red background with a large yellow star and four smaller yellow stars in the upper left corner.

And their contributions should at least merit a 1,000 Riel note illustration. Maybe with a Mao water mark?

The US could always go back to using its earlier flag, looks kind of cool with that trendy Union Jack in the corner.

Besides which that flag is a direct copy of The East India Company flag!

Compare and contrast the flags of Ireland and the Ivory Coast; when De Valera visited Washington, the flag of the Ivory coast was flown in his honor.

Then compare the flags of Monaco / Poland / Indonesia.
