Re: Are Expats in Cambodia Binge Drinking Enough?
Actually... your religious fervor has once again blinded you... because the second quote said, and i'll repeat it:dagenham wrote: Bullshit! It doesn't address the "numbers' of peeps killed/injured as a result of the other activities compared to drunk driving, just the physical reality of the degree of impairment. I'm sure drunk drivers cause more accidents in terms of numbers than does texting.
And if you go a little further down...Texting while driving a vehicle has now replaced drinking while driving as the leading cause of accidents and deaths of teenage drivers.
The proportion of alcohol-related traffic crash deaths has dropped 52% since 1982, and are now at historic lows, but the proportion of traffic accident fatalities that are NOT alcohol-related has jumped 78% during the same time. Although there are still far too many, we’re winning the war against alcohol-related traffic deaths. But texting-related traffic fatalities are epidemic and we’ve barely begun to fight the problem.

Cute pro-alcohol website there, OD...probably maintained by an alcohol lobby group. All those figures and studies can be countered and disputed. The Guardian recently came out with a new study that any alcohol at all can damage the liver calling into question all those moderate drinkers live longer studies, etc.
What does other accident causing actions have to do with a discussion about drunk driving anyway? It's your weak and limp attempt to deflect the reality of the tragic consequences of actively deciding to drive drunk.
In effect, the jury is still out. What are the definitions of alcoholics, moderate drinking, etc.? The irony of it all is that I'm hardly a teetotaler - I love the effects of a few drinks. I just never drive when I drink. In fact, I just discovered a new (to me anyway) Belgium beer at PP's Super Store that is 10% alcohol! I'm lovin' it because I only need to drink 1, maybe 2 and I'm high as a kite...I can't even conceive of a 10-15 drink night...I'm too weak, not man enough and the hangover is too steep a price to pay. I have a life to live after all.

Nice chance of subject just after an ad hominem on the source. You'd make a fine fine preacher... they do that a lot when someone brings up a point where science contradicts faith as well.dagenham wrote:Cute pro-alcohol website there, OD...probably maintained by an alcohol lobby group. And the Sociology Department at State University of New York works for the alcohol lobby? Who knew! Because that's who it's run by... David J. Hanson PHD. Someone even MADD uses as a source.

Dude, the tenor, slant and attitude of that website is decidedly pro-booze...anyone who reads what they are posting can recognize that - no wonder you like it so much - alcohol is at the very center of your existence...all sorts of University researchers are used/paid/funded by lobby groups...c'mon, Brother, you know that...OrangeDragon wrote:Nice chance of subject just after an ad hominem on the source. Stuff like that is why people don't take you seriously... you come off fully as a drunk flying chicken... but anti-alcohol. I find it amusing he's good enough for MADD to cite, but not good enough for ole Carrie Nation here to whom anyone who likes a drink on weekends is a raging addict.dagenham wrote: Dude, the tenor, slant and attitude of that website is decidedly pro-booze...anyone who reads what they are posting can recognize that - no wonder you like it so much - alcohol is at the very center of your existence...all sorts of University researchers are used/paid/funded by lobby groups...c'mon, Brother, you know that...
