Well, in terms of Thailand, if you peruse the 14 pages of this site:

http://www.farang-deaths.com/case/

(which includes all foreigners, not just westerners), you see that most tourist/expat deaths in Thailand seem to be caused by vehicular accidents, drowning, suicide and natural causes.

why is is that those from the uk are more than any other country and males are 8x more than females
Chadamas Chinmaneevong of the Bangkok Post reported that the Bureau of Prevention and Assistance in Tourist Fraud revealed that 83 foreign tourists died in Thailand last year, up 54% from the previous year. Another 166 were injured, down 160% from the previous year.
These figures were compiled from reports from the ministry’s 10 offices nationwide.
Of the 83 deaths, 34 were from road accidents, nine from swimming and boating accidents, six from congenital disease, four from suicides and 30 from other causes.
The report named several risky swimming areas for tourists, including Tawan Beach on Pattaya’s Koh Larn (Chon Buri) and Chaweng Beach on Koh Samui (Surat Thani). Mu Koh Similan (Phangnga) and Koh Hae (Phuket) were noted as risky areas for scuba diving.
Dangerous roads for tourists included highway 1095 from Chiang Mai to Pai district in Mae Hong Son, highway 118 from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai, highways 2258 and 2296 to Khao Khor (Phetchabun) and highway 4233 to Karon mountain (Phuket).
Putting the numbers in focus. In 2015, visitors to Thailand had about
One chance in 301,204 of dying
One chance in 735,294 of dying in a vehicle crash
One chance in 2,8 million of dying while swimming or boating,
One tourist in every 6,250,000 committed suicide

For safety and security, Thailand came in 132nd place out of 141 countries and was the lowest in Asean with a score of 3.75.

Cambodia came in at 92, http://reports.weforum.org/travel-and-t ... =TTCI.A.02

I do wonder where they got these figures as just off hand i would say there were many more deaths, so makes me wonder who they classify as Tourists

And they forgot to count the elephants :dm:
But wasn't the OP asking about direct aggression targeted against foreigners ? In Cambodia I have only seen foreigners fighting amongst themselves as far as I remember. Or maybe a barang-khmer one on one from time to time. (Pissed ).

Yes, I would say the most at risk area would be foreigner against foreigner. Too much ice about and nothing much to do gets people in the mood.
Most expat populations contain some violent people running away from their reputations back home before it kills them. Spain certainly does.

However, I have heard many an account of foreigners being ganged up on by 4 or more Asians to be taught a lesson, often with iron bars etc.
In fact , yesterday someone was telling me of an expat with tattoos all over him, scary ones, that was supposedly randomly severely beaten by a gang of over 6 14-to 20 year olds in PP a few weeks ago. Broken arm and cracked skull. Hospitalization job. As I said already, not the first time I've heard it. Same in Vietnam.

I personally have been coming here since 2002 and living here and Vietnam since 2010, I have been in 2 fights since school after traveling/ living in over 30 countries. Both of those fights have been in East Asia with east Asians. One in Cambodia, and one in Vietnam. I would say it's pretty dodgy here if you don't put-up and shut-up. Try not to complain when they fuck something important up, or are severely ripping you off. Learn to be their bitch and you will have no problems.

Basically, hand over all commonly perceived rights of man and codes of responsibility when you get out of the plane in Bangkok.

That doesn't count as it was one of the rarer one-on-ones. Good luck with the next one. Train harder. I can supply the training montage music if you like.

I still disagree. 20+ years here and never been close to getting randomly attacked.
