Anxious, apprehension, excitement, nervous . . . it’s my first time

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Do not expect Cambodia to be like Thailand. That should be obvious, but some travelers seem to think that Cambodia is just an undeveloped version of Thailand.

Three magic words to repeat when you are flummoxed : This is Cambodia. By the time you say that to yourself three times, you should be smiling.
Smile a lot and say hello.
(Sometimes I'm so glad to be back that I even smile at the immigration officers. Lol.)
Enjoy. :beer3:

Why are you nervous? I hope we're not going to be seeing your pic in the news tomorrow.

Have a good trip Yong, would be interesting since it's your first trip if you post a little summary on your impressions and experiences. A friend of mine did his first ever trip last weekend with his Thai wife and daughter, they flew direct to Siem Reap but thoroughly enjoyed it and thought the value of food, drink and accomodation was excellent.
Yes sir, I can boogie, I can boogie, boogie, boogie all night long.

The guy has been living and traveling around Thailand for years so I think it's fair enough to compare the two. If he was coming straight from the west and hadn't been in Surin or Buriram or wherever already I'd give different advice. :?

Be prepared to get asked if you need a tuk tuk A LOT, even when you just arrived somewhere.

Try to see some nature while you are there, that's where Cambodia shines IMHO. Angkor Wat is a must if you've never been.

You have so many posts on this forum you must have a pretty good idea what to expect. Enjoy your Cambodia-deflowering

What exactly excites you about it? What are you most looking forward to when you arrive?

Asking so I might begin to comprehend this notion of 'excitment'
