Re: Anti-Malarials
I've never heard of anyone contracting malaria in PP.potty wrote:you can OF COURSE contract malaria in PP, but you will be at the doc in a short time.
thats why no malaria prophylaxis needed.

Neither had the collective minds of the Oz medical community (which -does- deal with tropical diseases) but potty clearly has other experience.Username Taken wrote:I've never heard of anyone contracting malaria in PP.potty wrote:you can OF COURSE contract malaria in PP, but you will be at the doc in a short time.

No. It's because the likelihood of contracting it in PP is very low.potty wrote:you can OF COURSE contract malaria in PP, but you will be at the doc in a short time.

Re: Anti-Malarials
Whilst malarone is an excellent anti malarial (albeit expensive) do not assume it is the correct anti malarial for this area at this time. The recommended one is under constant review and change.
Re: Anti-Malarials
which one is the recommended one and how much ?
are they otc ?

Re: Anti-Malarials
Malaria in Cambodia is Chloroquine/Mefloquine resistant. Malarone or Doxy are recommended if you are going to take anti-malarials. Anti-malarials are not advised for Phnom Penh and most other tourist areas. It is advised only for some rural areas and even then, is a bit of a toss up.

in the ucare i understood, that everything "quine" is not available.

Re: Anti-Malarials
Just to be clear, malaria in Cambodia is resistant to Chloroquine and Mefloquine. These drugs are not recommended for use in Cambodia. They will not prevent malaria in Cambodia. And Mefloquine is a nasty, dangerous drug.
