Re: Anonymity
Yeah I happen to agree with you but I'm not a teacher. I’m just someone that worked in the disability sector and wanted to correct the wrong.
Actually I think the PC stuff has gone too far and ask any Khmer with a disability and I can assure you that don't give a shit whether its people with disabilities or disabled person.

I appreciate the irony and try to avoid being pedantic about semantics.Cowshed Cowboy wrote:Pretty funny, I read your post earlier about the threads gradually going off topic when they got hijacked after a few posts by teachers picking up on language issues and then read this one from start to finish. Spot on
In my defense I did manage to post some relevant comments before derailing the thread. Also, G-Mac started it!

I was simply trying to point out examples of times you're not in the wrong, but still might benefit from a little bit of privacy online.

Far more politically correct? A country where you can use racist terms with people you barely know? A country which doesn't have any race quotas or affirmative action programs*, unlike the UK or the US?StroppyChops wrote:Given that Oz is, in my view, far more politically correct than many other western countries, it's unlikely you'd hear an education Aussie using 'retarded' in the sense of a person with a disability.

Since working out that you are a woman I have found your, anyway excellent, posts even more interesting.
What is that: a kind of benign sexism, positive discrimination?
I only have two close black friends and they both despise positive discrimination, or whatever the term is.
