Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. Angkor beer

Post by brisie »

Yesterday beer time I was having troubles trying to find an Angkor tinnie in my locals fridge.
It turns out they've changed the gold can to silver and looks similar to Anchor cans not only that my paranoia would suggest that they've pulled all old stock from shops and replaced with the new look cans so you can't compare the two.

Not only this but they've changed the recipe and lowered the IBU (bitterness) maybe to save money on hops who knows but it tastes like shit from a crack pipe hitting whores ass if anyone was to ask me.

The ring pull competition changed to same as black panther you have to be with Smart SIM and dial *1992*code under ring pull# to win shit. I won $5 in useless credit that only works for smart to smart calls and lasts 3 days woopy fucking do already have $333 Thom morn plan.

I'm really upset by the change as I don't like beer Cambodia hops and Anchor gives me gout and worse hangovers I feel like I'm at a loss

So literally nothing has changed then. Angkor has always been the shittest beer.

Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

I've always been surprised that they sell any of the stuff at all, each to their own of course, but some flavours might not be my cup of tea but I can see that they are just different not necessarily bad, whereas that stuff has a queer metallic tomatoey flavour, seriously i'm not saying they do- but makes me wonder if they use rotten tomatoes as their sugar source (but hell nothing would be a surprise here aye?). And it's the same price as either Anchor or Cambodia too isn't it.
I find that Klang smooth pretty alright actually, like that its 4% and its a bit cheaper too.

Klung is 6% Klung meaning strong I don't understand why a stronger beer is cheaper but I'm happy I quite like it but most Kumar don't

Nah I mean the "Klang Smooth"- only 4%, dunno if its new but I haven't come across it before. Makes sense I guess covering both bases with beers 1% over and under the others.

I prefer Angkor in a bottle versus a lot of the stuff here, but then I don’t drink much any longer and I’m an ale/Guinness drinker anyway, and all lager just tastes like flavoured soda water...

My local shops in Chroy Changvar still stock Angkor in gold cans, haven't seen any silver cans. These shops range from small stalls and mum and pop shops to larger "supermarket" type outlets and are getting resuplyed regularly.
