You don't want heat if the back's inflamed. Cold's better or hot-cold-hot-cold. Laying around doesn't help either. Most of this is worth reading: http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/back ... #271873102

Don't know about that. Just had the problem myself and I know what worked for me. Granted I didn't use heat till the last day. 'Laying around ' was recommend by the doc and was absolutely key in my recovery.wackyjacky wrote:You don't want heat if the back's inflamed. Cold's better or hot-cold-hot-cold. Yeah, me too. I thought laying around was what you're supposed to do. The only reason I've gone to Chiros is that I didn't have that option. As far as heat goes, it may make you feel better, but ultimately you're keeping the inflammation around longer. Ice at 1st, then after around 2 or 3 days - hot-cold-hot-cold loosens stuff up for some reason. You treat it just like a sprained ankle.

I feel your pain. Also, to be robbed while in bed is the worst violation.
Just wondering if you caught a thief and injured them, what trouble would you be in?

Sorry to hear about your ordeal BKL, back pain really sucks as do the damn thieves.
If you decide you need to see a chiro I can thoroughly recommend Dr Christophe Savouré. He is a very competent chiro, has a very well set up clinic and is a really good guy to boot.

Re: Almost caught the little fucker
Sorry to hear about your misfortune BKL, at least you weren't injured, or worse, by the intruder.
About 2 years ago a close friend of mine had just returned to PP from Iraq, on his 2nd morning home his wife woke up and discovered that their rear (steel concertina) balcony door was wide open and the padlock for it was lying on the ground in pieces. My friend locked his wife and their 3 month old baby in the bedroom while he checked the apartment to make sure that the intruder wasn't still inside, his wife meanwhile, discovered that both their mobile phones and about $100 cash was missing from their bedside table. The thief had managed to sneak into their room whilst they were sleeping and get between the baby's crib and bed to snatch the items! Its scary to think what could've happened if any of them had woken up and interrupted the thief whilst in their bedroom.
My mate was really angry with himself for not closing and bolting the secondary inner rear balcony door and not bolting their bedroom door, as he normally did, this guy is extremely security conscious. He sent his wife and baby packing to the family home for the next week, whilst he set up some basic early warning systems and booby traps. He would then leave the house for a few hours and sit at a bar across the road, where he had full view of all his apartment, drinking non-alcoholic drinks, and then would return to his place pretending to stumble in a drunken swagger. He then left the rear door open and set himself in an observation post with a baseball bat hoping that the thief would return. Luckily, for the thief, he never did return.

Bitte_Kein_Lexus, what a disturbing event, particularly when you were not on best physical form.
Take strength in the fact that both you and your other half are both physically unharmed. It does afford you the opportunity to review your domestic and mobile security deter any future opportunity to a Jao, as well as aid your future restful sleep.
I hope your back returns to normal as soon as possible and you are able to take measures to turn this negative event in to an opportunity to a more positive one.
Get well soon m8
