Having read the original post several times I am struck by the OP's need to keep reminding us that the two males were black. It is also hard to understand how anyone who is a long term expat would imagine that mall security would get involved in a verbal altercation, as others have stated it is not their job.
Owing to the sensational claims of fund raising Ngo's, incidents like these are not unknown, the males in question were out of line, but it does seem the OP didn't handle the situation well. :hattip:
The most boring man in the World. Ever!

The older boy ran away very scared, coz my hands were getting too close, we’ve collected small stones and rocks together. He was a very helpful kid, of course we’ve paid him a bit for that. Bait, bait!!! please let it come!!!

To spell it out, remind people of certain facts,
And make things absolutely clear... Perhaps it's good to remind ourselves that it does seem that there are a hell of a lot of Black people in Phnom Penh that do seem to get themselves in trouble for over staying their visas, working illegally, being involved with importing naughty things, crashing cars, and dodgy scams. That's no secret and even an inside joke if you live, here in the Penh. The amount that get deported is quite high!

Did I handle myself badly? No I didn't. These fools wanted to fight me but I wanted the security / police to stop them in the hope that maybe they would check their passports to see if their papers were in order, or if they were already known to Police, and even search them for drugs. I am not stupid! You guys weren't there and a real life scenario is difficult to express in this forum as it did unfold.

Also it is extremely upsetting when 2 strangers accuse you of being a sick pervert in a shopping mall when in fact you did nothing actually wrong but just take 1 innocent photo of two happily consenting to be photographed, teenage girls. What is sick about that?

So yeah maybe I have good reason to be angry, fed up, and shaken about this, and also to mention a "certain people", causing even more trouble. There is nothing worse than these stupid do gooder moralizing types when they jump to conclusions and use their own I'll formed judgement to act upon. I mean anyone else else would have gone and complained to security / Police and let them decide which action to take.....but these two decided to take matters into their own hands and we're completely out of order in their agressive manner. Absolute trouble makers, And Aeon mall pretty much did sod all. Beware!

Yea it's Cambodia I know but you'd think in the new mall, Security would actually work.

You did handle it poorly. Even posters who think the guys were out of line think you handled it poorly. What you should have done was refused to delete the photo and walked away. The end.

Instead, you went to mall security on the top floor in an effort to get the black guys in trouble, or get them deported, or get them arrested for drugs, and also to show security staff the photo and argue your case that the photo was OK and the black guys were in the wrong. You unreasonably expected that mall security officers would detain, search, and question them. When that didn't happen, you then went to the information desk to make an "official complaint" and to show more mall staff the photo in question:

"Hi. Are you the information desk? I want to file a complaint and to tell you that I'm not a pedophile, I was just taking general photos of the mall, and these girls posed for me, and I shouldn't have to delete this photo. You agree with me right? Look at the photo. These girls are 18, and they are looking at the camera, and they are smiling, so this is a normal photo, right? And these black guys were very mean to me about it and your security guys should have detained them and questioned them and searched them and made them explain themselves. And I don't feel safe because your security is incompetent." Then you deleted the photo anyway.

You completely lost sight of the fact that you're in Cambodia. You're on your own. Mall security officers in Cambodia don't micromanage the behavior of guests nor detain, question and search foreigners who are drunk in the mall, or have powder on their noses, or who berate other foreigners over the propriety of taking photos of teenage girls. Nobody gives a shit.

If I would have walked away these 2 would have attacked me. They went ape shit. You were not there, and I wasn't gonna risk even getting one single blow by these losers.

That is why I had to do what I did. Of course I tried telling them to go away and walk off.....

Try and be more understanding. I am not an idiot. However I will take on these points you mentioned.

Thank you and have a nice day.☺

I would suspect that the two "black people" in question were most likely tourists. The bad elements that get into trouble would not have accosted you. The issue now is how western media and certain NGOs have stereotyped middle age westerners in Cambodia as potential child molesters. This idea has taken root in many tourists, so much so, that if they see what they perceive as questionable behavior, no matter how innocent it is in reality, they feel justified in intervening. They have been so brainwashed by media hype that they cannot discern reality from their own imaginings.

Its an unfortunate condition that we have to live with. There have been a number if similar incidences such as one man and his daughters being accosted on the riverside by a tourist who had made the assumption that the man was a child molester. Doing a search may pull these stories out. Here's one Concerning Chris Minko and his daughter reported in the Khmer Times three years ago.

Sexpat Stereotype Takes Toll on Daughters and Fathers

PHNOM PENH (Khmer Times) – After listening to diners at the table next to hers speculate about how her father had found “such a young prostitute,” Anya Minko snapped. “He’s my dad, you perverts!” she yelled.https://www.khmertimeskh.com/news/14299 ... d-fathers/
