Administration/Moderation Concerns?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I'm sure WE can do better if we all pull together. However, you are just trolling.

You didn't just notice that your post was 'soft' deleted, I had the courtesy to PM you and tell you that your post had been deleted.

You, who doesn't even live here in Cambodia, managed to single handedly get cambodiadaily dot com taken offline, then have the cheek to pity the poor Khmer journalists who won't get credit for their work cos they no longer have a job.

Wassup, you been banned from all the hostess bars around town or something? Got nothing to do?

Why do you keep saying "soft" deleted? What does that even mean? I made a post, you deleted it. Just say that.

You did PM me, but I've seen people here freak the fuck out when someone discusses a private message because they are sacred and confidential. So I didn't want to mention that. I just mentioned the deletion of a post that did nothing more than provide a news source.

There's no trolling here, CEO's obsession with suppressing Khmer news sources is clearly wrong and it's bad for CEO.

That's not true at all. Many posters have asked for the sources. Myself, Rama, randompeeps, taabarang, kiwincambodia, barang_doa_slae, phuketrichard, BOFH, Jaap N., alibaba, etc.

Were they all "trolling" too?

Admin responded to this avalanche of posters requesting sources by agreeing to post the sources going forward. Specifically he wrote "Jeez, if it's that big a deal, we'll start doing it. You're welcome."

Then, after resolving the matter by telling posters in 2015 "we'll provide source links," CEO sneakily stopped posting sources again. Admin instead made a post a year ago "for all the people asking for the source" saying that "you're free to find the article yourself and post it here."

Image

I did exactly that twice this week. I did what admin said to do. I found the source links myself and posted them.

My posts were quickly deleted and I was threatened with banning.

Oh, and the moderator who deleted my posts and threatened me with banning previously posted this:

The laughable thing about CEO's source link paranoia is that there's no one left at the other forum who gives a shit enough to "steal" the CEO links to Khmer news stories and post them there. Depriving CEO readers of informative source links that they have said time and again they want, and deleting those links if posters post them, just to prevent someone from the other forum possibly using a link now and then, makes the CEO leadership look like paranoid, childish, clowns.

Agree with Gavinmac. How hard is it to link to the source of the news? It's a pretty basic request which requires zero effort. Management would bitch if you were the ones to break news and a western newspaper failed to credit CEO/K440. If the news turns out to be misleading or false (or a bad translation) then it'll fall on the original source, or the news can be modified.

[EDIT] It would be a bit different if you saw news and then sent out your own reporters to investigate, make calls, film the events and write your own report, but that's obviously not the case. If you just translate something from another source, it should be cited. All it takes is an "According to..." and a link.

I have always been for posting ORIGINAL links /sources ( ceo news constantly didn't) and when someone posts something, i ask for source. If i am quoting someone else, i always link to it...
I also am FOR crediting all photos to the photographer and videos of others should not be watermarked "CEO" as gonk used to do, but stopped.

Give Credit where credit is due....
The ONLY reason you dont place a link to the source, is someone MIGHT go off ur site and ur pr is diluted ( but so minimally it really does not matter and can be stopped with a NOFOLLOW meta tag). Other than that there is no reason to NOT post the source.
:beer3:

funny u mentioned this, i see posts over there a day or 2 after they are originally posted here

a brief look at the other forum shows that many news items are not linked to the original source.
why is this being made into an issue here exclusively?
seems a little unbalanced.
