Administration/Moderation Concerns?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Who is the boss?
Maybe a stupid question but couldn't immediately find the answer. I don't think this forum is decentralised where everyone gets the same vote. When I click on 'the team' on the bottom of the forum I see 4 admins but 3 are 'tourists'. I see 3 active moderators, do they have the same rights as the admins? Who started this forum, has the final vote and can overrule all the rest? If you don't feel like disclosing this no problem, just interested.

Like everything in Cambodia,,, it's under the control of the military.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.

That's me, that's me! [raises hand]

Ah, I hadn't noticed that. Not to confuse you, but our software organises "permissions" based on what group(s) you're in, and we can also set unique permissions per individuals. So not to confuse matters further, you can also be in various groups, etc, with various permissions, etc. If you're added to the Darknet Cambodia News group, then you have access to that forum, etc.

And everyone on CEO Mod Team has executive authority. That means when one of us bans you, the rest of us respect that decision. There are even some moderation actions that we need to get approval from another member of our team to do, and I abide by those "regulations" as well.

I strongly believe that numerous heads are better than one, so it's good to not just run CEO EXACTLY as one person sees fit.

Basically, I am confident that everyone on our team has the best intentions for CEO, so we all have the power to make modding decisions on our own. Sure, there's been times we don't all agree on an exact action, but I have almost never overturned a decision/action by another. I think I unlocked a topic a few months ago that someone else locked, but it was no biggie.

And while not every member of CEO can make modding decisions, you should all know damn well that your voices are heard loud and clear when you give us suggestions/feedback and are always taken into consideration when provided to us.

If it were a blog, I'd say it should be ran exactly how the owner wanted it to be ran, but since it's a community forum, we all have a say in things, and without everyone's input there is no way we'd be getting as big as we are.

I think Google's mantra is "don't be evil," and CEO's is probably closer to "don't be a complete asshole." Image

So for CEO to continue improving our community we need to make sure everyone is included in the direction we go.

Hope that helps clarify things. :assassin:

Yay! Another one returns to the Samsung family!

I brought my Samsung Gear VR headset with me to Cambodia this trip, and it's been freaking Khmers the fuck out, with most ripping it off their faces at the first sign of a ghost, LoL. A few have said they want to get one for their iPhones, and I get to point out that Apple doesn't have anything of the sort!

This thread is supposed to be about Administration/Moderation Concerns.

I think we need to clear out the last couple of pages and move them to a dedicated thread.
What should we call the new thread?
- Solving the worlds problems.
- The Great Debate.

Suggestions please.

The last few pages don't belong in this thread.

How about 'I DEMAND' / 'The entitlement thread' ?

Just ideas, I will not label you if you have a different opinion.

(But you MUST accept my idea!) :D
