Most people who test positive never get sick. Some do get sick and recover in a week or two. The ones who get seriously sick and need a hospital are overwhelmingly elderly and weak people with many other debilitating diseases. This is well documented.
pretty pathetic post. You're working on the November elections or just had a few beers extra?
First of all, no tourist visa issued. This answers your uninformed blurb. Second, who told you that most people never get sick? You just made that up. Many sick people dont show symptoms and go around infecting others. Nice attitude that you diminish those with other diseases. I have a lot of elderly friends and also younger friends with serious conditions. In a world run but creatures like you there would be no place for them left.

It is this kind of Nazi mentality that puts a price tag on human life and defines who can be discarded. Dont be offended, you're ignorant and cant locate yourself within the context your mind works. Get some books, read, get a mirror and reform yourself. Disgusting.
Your post makes very little sense. What did I say about visas? Nothing. What's more, I already have a visa.

No, i'm not making it up. Most people never get sick. And the idea that infected people with no symptoms can spread the disease is controversial. There are plenty of scientists, including one at WHO, who say there's no evidence of that. But this is covered up because if asymptomatic infected people don't spread the disease, there's no justification for shutting the world down. And the globalists running this scam WANT to shut the world down, so they can remake it as a one-world dictatorship.

I don't want your elderly friends to die. They need to be careful not to get infected. They need to boost their immunity with proper nutrition, Vitamin D, zinc, and, yes, even HCQ, which MANY scientists have said works, along with zinc, as both a cure and a preventative.

Listen, schmuck, there are no tourists in Cambodia. I know that's too difficult for you to understand. If you are not interested in tourists why do you bring it up?

Keep spending your time on youtube and wherever until you find someone who share your views. You stupidity is manifest by your sad belief in conspiracies. Keep going down that road and you will connect the dots nicely. Of course, nobody wants the elderly and people with conditions to die, they need to be careful, otherwise they will be the price that had to be paid for one's lifestyle. Your logic is that of a Nazi schoolbook in 1938. I wont provide you the link, you would find too enlightening. By the way, did you buy stocks? I heard investments in zinc are the next really big thing.

And, to @Smedley, I understand your frustrations but this Covid thing is affecting many more than just you.
Cambodia is not the only country requesting a deposit be paid on arrival, nor is it the only country that may quarantine you for 14 days.
You'll just have to weather the storm and hope that the situation changes before too long.
I, personally, know of entire families that have been split up due to Covid travel restrictions, not just a travel bag or two.
Actually the $2000 'bond' is quite reasonable given there is a good chance you will get most of it back. NZ has an automatic 14 day quarantine for every person coming in, and they are planning to charge full whack for that. I believe OZ is the same. 14 days in an Auckland hotel will cost you more than $2k with no chance of a refund.

I like that Cambodia has tried to stay pro active with this pandemic beyond just shutting everything down. It has a plan. Yes the plan has evolved. There were problems with specifics early on (Covid 19 test within 72 hours of Departure vs Arrival for example). And this is a new infection that we are still learning a lot about (science is slow - it takes time to validate information with randomized controlled studies).

I wish we would see more global PROACTIVE behavior in other governments (cough “USA”) rather than wait till we have things spiraling out of control (cough”USA”).

Another request / suggestion would be that Air Lines (and Air Ports) start making changes now to live in a post pandemic world: How about getting a rapid (less than 30 min) Covid test at the airport for all passengers (or maybe just international travel?)? Baking some of the requirements to travel within the cost of the flight seems reasonable. People need to feel safe to fly.

Dunderhead - try using it. If you want to defend conspiracy theories, youtuber science and fall for fake arguments like "how many tourists...." when there are none - that's fine with me and your very own problem.

As for my qualifications, dont worry. They are appreciated, recognized, and certified by competent authority. I am always wondering what impression promising young Cambodians gain of western scholarship when I see the miserable crowd of so-called teachers in PP. Certainly, there are shining exceptions but most of the bunch would not make it through the door of any self-respecting institution. They are the modern day equivalent of the disgraced and drunk colonial officers at a French outpost in the Sahara.

Back on topic: The Cambodians do issue 'special visa' for people qualifying. One does not need an employment contract, invitations etc. It is sufficient to show a long term presence in the country, sufficient funds as in being comparably well-off, academic degrees (not TEFL and the like) help as well. The officials will probably check their databases for the odd overstay and arrest. So that would not help.

The category IV of the Aug. 4 decree established a legal basis so that embassies can decide at their discretion. Some did so before.

Hopefully they will find a way that arrivals can access their local accounts so that carrying USD around will somewhat stop. A hotel with a more diverse menu would help westerners.

There seems to be some confusion concerning the regulations. My info from the embassy said that I need a covid 19 within 72 hrs of departure. One could interpret that as 72 hrs before changing to the flight to PP. The IATA database, however, states 72 hrs prior to arrival. It would be nice if this could be sorted out somehow. Following the discussion here on the forum I was alerted and checked again. Others might not be so lucky and fall into the trap.

Complaints rise over “twin-sharing” and “exorbitant charges” in quarantine hotel

Some foreigners have complained to Khmer Times that they have been asked to be placed in quarantine in a room with another person at the Tian Yi International Hotel in Phnom Penh, designated as a centre by the Health Ministry, owing to a shortage of rooms. They also said they are being charged exorbitant prices for food, drinks and other necessities.

“After we were allowed out of the airport we had to board a specially-designated bus to the hotel. Upon arrival a hotel staff boarded the bus and told us that if we twin-share a room, whether with a family member or a stranger, the cost is $60 per head,” one of them said. “The hotel will try as hard as possible to push you to share rooms by saying there are not enough rooms and if you do not do so, you will be placed at another ministry-designated hotel which does not have favourable ratings by travellers posting their experience on websites.”

In an interview at the hotel, Mile Wang, Tian Yi’s executive general manager yesterday denied that foreigners were encouraged to share rooms with strangers but said sometimes a couple or a mother and child wanted to be quarantine together in a room.

He claimed that the Health Ministry allowed this to be done.

“Only family members can be together because people refuse to share rooms with strangers,” he said. “My hotel has never had any strangers sharing rooms. There are police, authorities and health officials on duty at the hotel to make sure health guidelines are followed.”

Wang said it costs $90 per room for single occupancy, including meals per person so family members who stay in a room will have to fork out $120, or $60 each comprising $30 each for the room and $30 each for the meals.

“My hotel does not charge more than the limit set by the Ministry of Health. $60 per room and $30 for three meals per day,” he said.

“The guests can also order food at the hotel, as we have put the menu and the price in a special group chat.”

Responding to complaints by foreigners who told Khmer Times the hotel was charging $1.50 for a 350ml bottle of mineral water, Wang said this was because the water was of superior quality.

I stayed at the Tian Yi and it was ok. They didn't try that trick with me and would of got a two fingered salute if they tried. Are the deluded? Why would anyone agree to share with a stranger?

The food was appalling and I didn't buy any of it, I made alternative arrangements. I also cleaned them out of all toiletries, slippers and a couple of very plush hand towels. No Credit Card - no comebacks!
