not sure what gsuite for business is ? I'll try and look into it , its not unusual for me to have mail with 50 MB attachments anything larger I get on we transfer usually or by skype those files I also keep some are several years old . I had a external drive I saved it all on then a year ago plugged it in and said corrupted unable to access files took it to the techy all files were destroyed from some reason or another man I was pissed a lot of important stuff and laods of work all gone .

I currently have 2 at 1 Tb each. One is an old portable HD and just has movies and TV show on it and is almost full. The other is a fairly new SSD and the data transfer rate difference between them is staggering. The newer SSD portable is used to store the contents of my extra G.Accounts and more movies/TV series

But then, I remember saying the same thing when I installed Win 95 on a RAID 0 setup.

Also, with the Cloud storage services, what happens to your files if you stop paying? How long before the data is wiped?
I use G.Drive and have setup and run the GSuite for education package for the school I was working at but I haven't paid for a personal cloud service. I do have 4 G.Accounts that were created for the G.Drive space and 2 are almost full. My main account I use is actually mirrored on my PC but the others, which are for storage only, are cloud based only.


If the 4Tb SSD fits and it is of sufficient size to meet your needs I would go with that. (option 1)
Or, I would consider one or more portable drives for storage of infrequently used files/data (option 2)
and then finally, consider cloud based payment plans or multiple free accounts if your storage requirements are <100Gb. (option 3)

G.Drive is 15Gb per free account. Dropbox is only 2Gb per free account.
edit to add: Gsuite for education (which was free btw) came with 1Tb storage total and the ability to setup an unlimited number of accounts that could access it.

nahh approaching 70 not at all into any games have none on my lappy purely for business only

will go maybe tomorrow to the tech and see if 4Tb SSD fits if yes that'll solve my problems likely will outlive me, makes it easy for the person that will carry on what I am doing to have every thing in one place not on external drives , clouds and such , really appreciate the feedback and suggestions though thanks to all.
Will let you know the results

For really fast transfers (>500 MB per second) a very modern USB-C port is required. Sometimes laptops only have one dedicated modern port like that while the other (even USB-C) ports are older versions. Check your laptop's manual / spec's.

These drives will work with older USB connections, but much, much slower.

Thanks for adding that. My old portable HD is on a standard USB connection whilst the newer SSD is on a USB-C. Albeit, on a laptop thats a little over a year old now.
