Give us an idea of what price range you prefer. Like others have said, if you buy something expensive, you are better off getting something new.

Are you planning to use it just around the city, or for country trips?

Automatics are easier to ride in the city.

I am not familiar with the type of bike you are looking at, but most automatics never match top gear on a bike with gears. As a result, they do not go as fast when out on the open road. They also rev faster at high speed, which results in them using more fuel. So if you intend to take it out of town, I suggest a bike with gears.

When it comes to theft, the key is to be smart. When you go away from home and stay overnight or longer, leave the motor bike with a friend. If you leave it in vulnerable places unattended, have a chain and lock.

I would still be inclined to buy an older bike, to reduce the likelihood of theft. It depends what you want.

I suggest negotiate, to get the best price you can. But the dealer needs to make a profit, and he probably wont tell you how much he paid for the bike. But he wont go to a price where he does not make a reasonable profit.

I suggest, go with bikes that are well priced to start with. If the starting price is too high, you will be wasting your time.

Yes. But there are many different types, and I can't speak for all of them.

In some places they may just swap the odometer, either with a new one, or one from a bike with low kilometers. Some of those bikes with 50 km on them, may have a new odometer, wound to just 50 km.

A new PCX can be $3500-$4000 depending on 125 or 150 engine. There are some 2020 imports on khmer24 quoted as cheaper than that but what I found is that they haven't included the import tax.

I understand that most people don't insure their vehicle, but if I spend up to $ 2,000
which suggests he's looking up to $2000. Quite a jump then to go new.

Maintenance can be really bad with many Cambodians. With some bikes, you may have to spend money on it soon after you buy it.

You just unhook it. First thing many owners do. The older cable ones are hilarious: get a drill and leave it there to wind back for an hour or whatever. Seen it in some shops, even more reputable ones. Drill on the floor with something to keep the trigger in, and work on another bike as it winds back the odo.
