The Meteor 350, Himalayan and Classic 500 are on display at Aeon 1 today, tomorrow and sunday.

I went earlier but there weren't any RE staff on site. Seems they are there just to have a look at and sit on them.

The Meteor there is the yellow Fireball version. I thought it didn't look as good in the flesh with too much black but there are the other chrome models. Not sure also about the 'cruiser' config with foot peg forward design.

Yeah, on the surface these seem like a good deal @AndyKK however I would add that these are all 2018 models. I've been out to Motoland to have a look and test drive and the value is there however it seemed to me they've had trouble moving these. I think that might be because despite Mash being a French company..the basic mechanics ie engine/gearbox is from China based on an older Honda engine design albeit with upgraded EFI. Sort of what GPX (Thai company) is doing with China mechanicals.

That's not to say it's bad but I would say not contemporary and in the longer term resale value would be my concern. These Chinese models are being sold around the world under various brand names eg in Australia it's called Sol Victus https://www.solinvictus.com.au/products ... -scrambler

OTOH I think Royal Enfield has a better brand and reputation around the world and you're getting the latest design and up to date tech with 2 yr warranty. Still, having said that, I will have to go to the showroom and check it out in person. I just upgraded my scooter recently and I think that's still the most practical option in PP but I'm tempted to get something like this for a bit of fun on the side..famous last words haha
Has you know I have an original Jap import model, and they are a lot of fun, I have had a few recent problems, nothing too bad, I think too be expected with its age of 19 years. The kick-start return spring snaped, a pain when that is the only way to start this model, but easily sorted out.

The engine I believe for the model is donated from the Honda XR400R.
There are a few Japanese models available and for sale in Cambodia just now at reasonable prices, if you are interested drop me a message.

Why shouldn't it be considered as a hipster thing ? I mean, the retro looks, the fact that nowadays there is better bikes on the engine side & technology, the cult of the brand, the assumed target market, i wouldn t be surprised to see the owner with a beard and colorful glasses, eventually a scarf for the most fashionable ones.

I ride bikes, i know the reputation of Royal Enfield, however....just wondering

The Royal Enfield shop in Saigon is next door to the Triumph shop (thanks for that tip @AndyKK which is about 100 yards from the Harley dealership.
Next time I go up I'll grab some photos and post them and do the price comparison although from what I remember from my last visit a few weeks ago now they were about $500 more here than the same model back in Australia but I'll check again and post some photos from all 3 shops.
@clutchcargo is it okay to do as this thread is about RE's in Cambodia or should I start a new thread and that way discussion can be made about the other two makes of bikes?

Cheers Kahuna. This is not a busy thread so if it strays a bit off topic I think that's OK. In any event, I'm not sure a topic around other makes in Vietnam will generate a lot of discussion here.

By the way, and I don't recall the figures off the top of my head, but I did a price comparison for the new Meteor 350 between Cambodia and Australia a month ago and it's a lot cheaper here in Cambodia. The 'on the road' price in Australia includes all sorts of gov't taxes, registration and insurance costs.

I haven't had a test ride on the new Meteor but after having a look and sit on at the Aeon display, I've decided the cruiser style with forward foot pegs and dual seat is not really my thing. So RE will be coming out with a new Hunter 350 model later this year which will be more a direct competitor for the Honda CB350 H'ness..single seat and standard foot pegs. Actually, I wish NCX could bring the Honda in but I suspect they won't given they'll probably not see it as a volume seller.

Not sure this is a definitive pic yet of the Hunter 350 but it gives an idea..

I think the most expensive place for the Royal Enfield is in England.

Once again clutchcargo I must follow your post by adding news on the new scrambler, to me the cost may put this bike out of many a pocket here.

This Modified Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 Scrambler Looks Like an Ultimate Beast

Inspired by the looks of Triumph Scrambler, the modified Interceptor 650 features a series of changes from its original look.

There's no denying the fact that Royal Enfield bikes enjoy a cult following in the Indian market and in recent years, the brand's presence has also grown in the overseas market. One of the key reasons behind the popularity of RE motorcycles is their design that is based on simple architecture. This quality makes RE bikes suitable for performing customisations and many independent designers are often seen presenting the bikes with their personalised touches and designs. And the latest addition to this list is a modified version of the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 that was built by Manchester, United Kingdom-based ‘Sold Out Motorcycles’.
