Without having a motorcycle license I was limited to a 125cc and below. The PCX 125 is good at cruising around 90 km/h, good enough for trips to other cities in Cambodia and cruising around town here in Phnom Penh. Had I had the proper license I would have hands down gotten the PCX 160. But I probably would have stepped up to an ADV 250/350 if my main purpose for use was for extensive longer road trips.

The hooligan in me really wants to pick up a Kawasaki Z900...I rented one in Thailand and it was an awesome ride. A little bit of bling factor to it too compared to the smaller bikes and at $5k USD used, it's not crazy expensive. Then I'd just rent dirt bikes in the locations I travel to.

I will update this in a few weeks when I pick a bike up.

Honda should have called it Trans Cambodia
everyone can fix, everyone has parts - can do long highway drives and light off-road. Not a dirt bike but very capable and reliable workhorse.
Easy to find decent one in $1000 range. Just check serial number on honda web site to validate year registration papers typically repeat year of import as year of manufacture.

Question. Is it true that a foreigner cannot purchase/register a second hand motorcycle here in their name if it has already been registered in Cambodia?

I had read, whether true or not, that foreigners can only purchase new or imports that had not been registered yet.

In over 15 years of riding bikes and motos here never been asked for the rego anyway. License yes.

I’m liking it just fine thanks. Just getting used to the first come first serve when going through these intersection.

The only reason I ask is because the OP is talking about taking the bike internationally, so I can only assume that the bike would have to be registered in his name along with the license plate.
