Honda Goldwing GL1800 - first all new Goldwing in 13 years

Have a car, truck, motorcycle, or bicycle you'd like to sell? List it here for free. Heck, you can even buy and sell tuktuks or your pink Scoopy here. Remember, you need a driver's license in Cambodia for cars, trucks, and any motorbike that's over 125cc. And always wear a helmet!

Honda Goldwing GL1800 - first all new Goldwing in 13 years

Post by yong »

Good video briefly telling where the current Goldwing came from, it’s heritage, and where it could be going. I immensely enjoy this video

1.8 liter engine? That's bigger than half the car engines out there!

Wow, that probably has scary torque and power. Nice looking design though.

Putting 1.8L and 2.5L engines in two-wheeled vehicles is just ludicrous. There were enough 1000cc bikes taking their owners with them into the great beyond. Not to mention dozens of new Ferrari owners smashing their million-dollar cars to bits. Just Google "new ferrari owner crashes car." Money doesn't beget brains. Anyway, advice and deaf ears. blah blah . . .

That said, the Gold Wing does have a good reputation for long-distance rides.

It's about low speed torque.

Those 1000cc bikes have to scream up to 14000rpm to make power.

1800cc will pull the side of a house down at 2000rpm and last longer

Eh?
Have you ever ridden one of those bikes?

Unless you’re pulling a trailer that much low speed torque isn’t needed. That’s what gears are for.
Don’t listen to Chinese whispers.

I have. And they have around 180nm of torque.

About twice as much as a Ford Focus, by way of example.

Yet low hp to engine cubic capacity at just 118hp.

It's all about the torque.
